2 star recruit with a scout grade of 69. He is from California. That's all I got so far.

Strengths: Brookins is a lengthy 5-man with long arms, good feet, and a frame that can add good weight. He is learning to set up well on the block and he can turn over his right shoulder for the finish. He is a solid rebounder in his area and his ... for full access to RecruitingNation become an Insider

California commit... stretch that reach. I'm digging it.
Side note, those shorts got some camo pattern on them?

24/7 sports has him rated as the #37 center nationally, with a 3 star rating. They list him at 6'7" and 205lbs. Good get.

If I am reading his stats correctly as posted above, they are not very good. What am I missing?

A little more digging on Scout says last year's team had a 4 star big headed to Oregon and four other 3 stars, including Brookins. Looks like G trying to get out in front of a potential riser.

Stats not impressive.
But I am blown away by the fact that he grew 3 inches in an Hour and a Half.
Impressive

Must say G exceeded expectations with 3* (by some agencies). Calif. Wow. Good job. He needs a bit of meat, so I would guess that the subject came up re: sitting out a year. Saw that he visited and really never gave it much thought after.

Nice. Never doubt G when it comes to uncovering bigs. I'm writing this without thinking, but besides Steve Zack who has he uncovered? And I was a Steve Zack hater (or at the very least, thought that he was an overrated member of a supremely talented team).

Has La Salle ever recruited a Ca. kid with no ties to this area?

Probably an argument for Weingarten playing up if you felt like making it. But really Zack and Washington since that's covered half his tenure.

While I agree that there is some risk in recruiting a high school player who didn't start as a junior Miles seems like the type of big man recruit we have to take a chance on. A10 programs are not signing 4 and 5 star big so we have to do the best we can in discovering potential big men. I like his coaches statement and while I understand that he has to be supportive, I choose to believe that labeling him"a steal" is more than he had to say to be supportive. I also like the fact that Miles is taking a chance on us. Philadelphia is a long way from home for him. I hope our program and Miles are rewarded by this decision. Welcome Miles!

Thanks for the link. Sounds like he could actually be something. 6'1 as a freshman to 6'10 now, that's unbelievable. He probably does still have to get comfortable and used to that size and playing it, but for his coach to say he would get Pac-12 offers, that's pretty decent praise (even if Pac-12 is a slightly overrated P5 conference). Glad we will have the lefty baby hook back that we've been missing since Jerrell left. Right now I am just imagining Cian and him in the front court next year, or in 3 years, a 7'2 and 6'10 front court... that could be intimidating and I'm not sure the last time we've had size like that. If ever.

Let me also welcome Miles to La Salle. It will be interesting to follow his Sr season in HS.
Better ask for Winter clothes for Christmas this year.
