With La Salle winning 1-0 and the clock under 10 seconds, an assistant (not Bobby Wilkinson), interfered with the action. JMU had a throw-in. The ball boy was tossing the ball to a JMU player. Our assistant knocked the ball away. The time on the clock ran out. JMU coaching staff rightfully went crazy. In an unprecedented move, the officials put 5 seconds back on the clock and allowed JMU to have a throw-in. Fortunately for La Salle not much happened on the play. Officially the match ended.
Personally, I would suspend and think about dismissing that assistant. The AD and HC need to take disciplinary action. That was a disgrace to the University and the program. For me, it ruined a great performance by MSOC. Congrats to the team on the road win and start to the season.

Disappointing. Never ends well when a coach for any sport feels the need to inject him/herself into the game. They're kids after all, and coaches need to be role models needed.

On the boxscore La Salle received a yellow card for delaying the game. It is not unprecedented that the referee stops the clock to issue a yellow card in college. But yes, it is a shame to have this stain on the reputation of the soccer team which is otherwise having a tremendous start to the season, especially defensively.
I noticed after the first two matches that the Explorers had not yet put up a goal in the run of play, but managed a 2-0 record because of the clean sheets. Now the goals have started to trickle in too, and the wins keep coming.

The clock ran out. After a discussion the three officials gave the La Salle bench a yellow card. They then placed :05 on the game clock to allow JMU a throw-in in the La Salle defensive end. I have never seen a College Soccer match where the officials added time after the game ended. It was the right call. I think :05 was too short.

Looking at the picture on website, it is the coach on the right (new guy).

Didn't realize McCarthy was an assistant. Pretty surprising since he is also on the roster for the Philadelphia Union- and I believe played some for them as well as Bethelehem Steel this season.

Seems smart to start on a second career during a first career with a very finite lifespan.

Seems smart to start on a second career during a first career with a very finite lifespan. Very smart. I'm sure it can't hurt their recruiting. "Coach McCarthy can't make it to see you today because he's starting against the LA Galaxy tonight"

It's a win-win for all parties. He's building a long-term future while La Salle can say our coach is current professional. It works for recruiting.
