Kosher to put it here, or should it go on the Banter Board? I'm fine with either...
I'm craving hoops, and I'd love to discuss all that I love, and dislike about the NBA playoffs.

Love: the temporary idea that the Warriors could get knocked out in the first round, which would greatly increase the title chances of the 3-4 teams the next tier down.
Dislike: the 1-4 seeds in the West didn't get a two-week bye before the highly anticipated Western semis.

Dislike: The NBA.
Seriously is unwatchable in comparison to college ball, IMO.

Dislike: The NBA. Seriously is unwatchable in comparison to college ball, IMO. Basketball is basketball, the only differences are a 24 sec shot clock vs. 30 shot clock, 1 shot technicals vs. 2 shot technicals, 4 foul limits and 2 foul shots vs. 1 and 1's, jump ball vs held ball, 8 second half court count vs 10, 6 fouls vs. 5, 48 minutes per game vs. 40 minutes per game, being able to advance the ball inside of a minutes past half court, and defensive 3 seconds vs. no defensive restrictions. If college would get rid of the held ball, and the NBA would get rid of defensive 3 seconds, than there would be 2 almost perfect sets of rules.

lol that's alot of difference.
It's more than those, though. It's the structure, the attitude we see. Defense vs no defense. It's youth versus money. It's championships vs a paycheck. It's honor & passion for the game vs a fashion show before and after the game.
NBA is basketball, yes. But in my opinion, it's become a bastardized version of the game. I mean, the only sport that hasn't really evolved into a certain degree of a parody of itself is hockey, except when Mike Milbury starts leading those "no fighting" discussions.
I don't think the NBA is necessarily awful, it's just that college ball is much more 'pure' in comparison. There's something way more attractive about watching the awful 76ers' youth fight for every win than watching Lebron and DWade chuck up threes and never get called for travels.
Maybe this is how people felt when Gretzky was doing Gretzky things in the early 1980s. At a certain point, you stop saying wow and rather watch one of the 85 shows about Alaskan gold mining.

I hate the DH, and I hate replay in baseball. It makes a slow sport slower. I hate that the NFL doesn't know what a catch is, and I hate the excessive roughing the passer calls.
The NBA playoffs are great when they are competitive, but when it is all chalk, and that's the case most years, it can get blah, particularly in the early rounds.

Different folks, different strokes. Not expecting everyone to agree, and hey - someone's watching these games, they're getting the ratings for sure.
Just not my cup of tea. And naturally I say it like a turd.

NBA officiating has been terrible this playoff season. It's a rugby match out there. Guys are getting hammered in end game situations with no calls. Harden with the push off last series, D Wade in game 6 driving the hoop, and last night with Dion Waiters. I like all types of basketball, but the world's best officials leave alot to be desired.

Once they get the technology down pat, there will be robots surrounding the court instead of refs, and all calls will be communicated by this guy:

Draymond really stinks. He hasn't been good in like 6 years.

Draymond really stinks. He hasn't been good in like 6 years. Couldn't disagree more. His facilitation is next level and he's been a top defender for a decade. Can't score anymore, but the Warriors aren't the Warriors without him.

3 of the 4 series are tied 1-1. I don't think the Suns have much chance, but the other 3 series really could go either way in my opinion

Can't score anymore, but the Warriors aren't the Warriors without him. I hit big on a bunch of Draymond props last night...like to the tune of $500. I wrote the post after he was 1-4 from the line. He does the dirty work, but he's also cost the Warriors games, and a 2016 Championship with his antics. That gets swept under the rug because they have 4 titles, but his antics and suspensions are tiresome. My favorite player of all time is Charles Barkley, I realize that some guys have to play with an edge. Kicking guys in the balls, stomping on them, and punching teammates in the face is where I draw the line. They are all bitch moves IMO, not actual tough guy incidents. As you alluded to, he can't finish around the rim, and his offensive game has fallen off of a cliff. Not Ben Simmons drastic, because Draymond isn't scared, but he's probably done in Golden State after this season because of his decline and antics. Joe, there was a 2 or 3 year period where I thought he was going to be a HOF player. I don't see it anymore. However, I appreciate him stepping up last night and making us some money. WARRIORS, WARRIORS, WARRIORS...COME OUT TO PLAY!!!

I'd lay a mortgage payment down on Draymond being a HOFer. Four titles. A 2nd team all-nba, a 3rd team all-nba, DPOY, 7x all-defensive team (1st and 2nd).

Warriors dynasty is about to be over. I've said it many times, but you can shoot your way out of a game just as easily as shooting your way into a game. Golden state is 0-27 when trailing on the road after 3 quarters this season.
I don't expect them to change up something that's worked for them for almost a decade, but I would like to see them take the most high percentage shots and Chip away at this lead. They are a front running team though.
As much as it pains me to say this, LeBron and AD are balling out tonight. Both of them are drama queens though. I've seen MMA fighters get knocked out cold and bounce back on their feet faster than AD and LeBron after they get fouled.
Go Nuggets. Go Sixers.

The Process began with the Sixers messing around with the basketball gods when Hinkie decided to play NBA 2K with an actual NBA roster. His first big move was trading Jrue Holiday for what became Nerlens Noel, best remembered for trashing his Conshohoken condo. Hinkie Truthers also talked up all of those wonderful finds he made over the years that all amounted to a bunch of overrated bench players like Robert Covington and Dario Saric.
I love the Hinkie Truthers being apoplectic that the league stepped in any put in Jerry Colangelo to babysit. The right response (drowned out by Spike Eskin and those goofs) was "Why the hell are we still employing someone so bad that the league took an unprecedented action in getting someone to mind the store?" Hinkie's not anywhere near a NBA team these days, instead playing the part of some VC goon.
That's not to excuse anyone else. But that was where this started -- Embiid coming of age in a roster filled with a few dozen teammates, where nobody cared about losing or accountability and more. It's a friggin' miracle (beyond his health) Joel is this great a player with what he was surrounded with.
That's not to excuse anyone else who came after -- Bryan "Burner" Colangelo and the braintrust responsible for trading up to get Markelle Fultz (hahahahaha we could have had Jason Tatum with Embiid) and having a second first pick forget how to play basketball in Ben Simmons. And trading a hometown hero to get a guy who almost died from eating a sesame seed.
Oh, yeah, we also had JIMMY BUTLER and let him go for what?
Josh Harris is one of the worst owners in pro sports. I have no idea how he gets a pass.

I have no idea how he gets a pass. All due respect, and I'm not a "Processer," Harden and Embiid were mutts in game 6 and 7. I love Embiid, but he's a baby. Jo is soft. But that's a product of sitting him every time he has a loose stool. It started with sitting him for 2 years, and sitting Ben for a year. They never learned to play hurt. Similar to pitchers in the minors never getting stretched out. They never learn to go 8 innings or 120 pitches. So they are on the Injured List at the first sign of tightness or soreness. Jimmy Butler is hard. Marcus Smart is hard. PJ Tucker is hard. GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

PJ Tucker might be hard, but he also sucks at basketball. The first part is right and its pretty simple ... the Sixers (or any team) can't win if their MVP decides to no-show the last 4.5 quarters of a series.

I agree about Tucker... but if he has 8-11 points in the 1st quarter of a playoff game, as he did Sunday... it should be a win Agreed???
