Roseman is a dope. Trading this year's and next year's 1st round draft choices as well as this year's 3rd and 4th and 2018's 2nd rounder for the overall #2 pick this year and a 4th rounder next year. All of this to get a possibly better than average QB. Plus we have salary cap problems already; AND we're weak on the OL and in the secondary. I'm fit to be tied right now. It's hard being a Philly sports fan with such inept management.

I've gotta say, if you're not a fan of Philadelphia area sports this has been a pretty fun week.

I was against it until yesterday. I did some research. It is rare that high-drafted quarterbacks outright fail. The below list has all QBs drafted #1 or #2 or otherwise noted. Only 3 or 4 are outright failures. The others are either above-average or good. The Eagles will never have the opportunity to be this high again.
• Winston • Mariota • Bortles • Luck • RG3 • Tannenhill (8) • Newton • Locker (8) • Bradford • Stafford • Sanchez (5) • Ryan (3) • Jamarcus Russel

But you won't pick at two again. So you take this chance. And the team doesn't go without a QB. Could be Bradford...but now they have a long term backup plan.

But the way this week is going, I'll stub my toe and then we'll get swept by the Mets and lose in Game 7 against the Caps while getting hit in the head with an LED bracelet.

Why won't you pick two again? You're doing it this year starting at 13(?) and it's moving up in a very non-franchise QB draft.

According to a very quick google, this would have been the 4th time in 7 years they'd be picking 13th or higher.

It is actually 3 picks they gave up. They got 2 back from Clevland. They gave up a First next year, a third next year and a second in 2018. If the QB works out it was genius. If not chalk it up as another bad move by the organization. Does Howie get canned if he is a bust?

I was at a conference yesterday where Joe Theismann spoke. He said it was a great deal for Cleveland. They don't need to draft another QB after screwing it up for years. They can build the rest of the team with these picks. As for the Eagles, all he said it was a move of "desperation." Took that to mean that the Eagles aren't sold on Bradford long term but if he produces next year they can trade him and have Daniels as the backup for two years. When I asked Thiesmann what the Eagles could get for a healthy and fairly productive guy at the end of next season. He said probably a 3rd and 4th on the low-end or a 2nd and 3rd on the high-end. QB's have a higher value than other players. Some call it a "QB tax."
Also if you use the "time value" I have heard people say that a 1st in '17 is really a 2nd in '16. A 2nd in '18 is a 4th in '16 from a trading standpoint.
We will see. You have to give up to get. Look at the draft value charts. May not (hope) be in a position to draft in the top 2 for a long time.

I never understand applying time value to draft pick trades unless you're looking at it strictly as a GM and/or you're win now filling a need (which doesn't apply here). For the fanbase and ownership, the team exists in perpetuity.
