Prediction: We'll see atleast one transfer before league play. With 75+ minutes coming from transfers and maybe 15 graduating (Rohan), some guys who see serious run this year won't be next year and I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to figure that out Good teams routinely have multiple guys with minutes in the 20s and no one logging more than 30 mpg. Minutes are earned., so these numbers will flex. but assuming all contribute well and equally, think there is a way to make everyone happy, as follows: Player MPG 15-16/MPG 16-17/ 17-18 Yvgen 30/20/25 Tony 25/10/15 Rohan 15/0/0 Henry 0/20/25 Cleon 30/24/0 Jordan 32/26/0 BJ --/25/29 Amar 28/25/29 Johnnie 28/25/28 Pookie --/25/29 Dusan. 6/ redshirt/10 Karl. 6/ redshirt/10

I can count 3 guys who most definitely would not be happy in that scenario.

Dusan, Karl, and Tony would be pissed and probably one of those three would transfer with the above scenario. However, unless Tony proves himself this year, his minutes will probably be like stated above, this year will determine his long term mins, and if he does bad, he'll probably just accept the low minutes. Karl or Dusan probably won't want to redshirt next year, however, Karl is apparently a raw prospect and Dusan is supposed to be raw also.

If anything Johnnie would not be getting more mins than Cleon and Jordan in 16-17... Absolutely not.
That being said, this minute projection is probably the most accurate i've seen so far.

You are right Ryan, those should be flipped.
Gotta think that Karl and Dusan would have expected a redshirt this year. If that flips to next year due to situation with PT, it should be embraced with some maturity.
BJ, Demetrius and Pookie are sitting out after getting some but not a ton of PT. BJ embraced the notion of getting stronger while sitting. These guys should embrace getting better and in Karl's case stronger. They can learn a lot from BJ.

If coach can get a walk-on, he definitely wants to redshirt either Dusan or Karl. He stated that the departure of Lewis was the only reason he wasn't able to redshirt Karl. We should hear some news on this soon. Currently our active players for this year would be the following if we redshirt Karl.
starting five:
g - amar stukes g - cleon roberts g - jordan price f - yevgen sakhniuk c - tony washington
bench:
g - johnnie shuler g/f - dusan mastrovic g/f - rohan brown
walkon - hank walkon - oj
I don't think playing Karl or not will have much of an effect on our success this season. It'll probably be just like the last two seasons. However, if he turns out to be good, his playing time in 19-20 would be well worth it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Karl and Dusan are probably only going to play 5-10 mins depending on the game. I don't think they will make much of a difference this season.
The few main things for me are how effective can Stukes and Shuler be in their sophomore years? How much do Cleon and Jordan improve in their second seasons? Can Sakhniuk and Washington hold their own in the front court and be productive most nights. The A10 isn't a league of big men.
Ultimately, can they maintain the defensive intensity they had last season and how much will their shooting improve?
G will for the most play with a 7 man rotation. Most teams in the A10 don't stretch much farther anyway. Dayton has been the only exception to that rule where they won with their depth.

Getting another walk-on would have no effect on Karl being redshirted. The only way he will get redshirted is if he gets hurt. G will be playing 4 guard sets a lot this season, and in order to do that effectively, you need 6 guards in the rotation. Dusan was signed late to give them that sixth guard.

Well Dusan is not really a guard. He is more a wing that can play the 2 and 3 position.
I honestly think Dusan will play more and is overall a much better player right now than Karl. So really Karl will be the 6th guard and Dusan 5th. We were really lucky to sign him.
Probably split the 4 guard set with Brown and Sakniuk. Probably a pretty even split between 4 and 3 guard lineups but doesn't really matter all too much with the exception of Washington you have nearly and entire roster who is capable of stretching the floor. Just a matter of consistency. Most of the minutes will go to Stukes, Shuler, Roberts, Price, Sakhniuk and Washington. Very curious to see what Brown's minutes end up being.

I have no idea if Dusan is better than Karl and neither does anyone else on this board. Both had similar stats in their last season of HS/prep ball. Both will get a chance to contribute this year and whoever plays better will get more minutes.

I am not trying to beat up on karl whatsoever. Happy to have him as well.
I definitely like what I saw from his recruiting profile and video but the reasons I think that is Dusan had more interest. His body seems to be more developed than Karl's. He is also older and has a little more experience.
More importantly though, I really trust Stew Morrill. He was a really solid coach at Utah State and was a coach who recruited really well for what he was given. Similar to Bona's Schmidt.
Those of my reasons whether I am right or wrong. Happy to have both.

I think we can all agree that Jordan Price, Dusan Majstrovic, and Rohan Brown are small forwards, however, Coach Giannini will play them as guards.

Relax....whether G has him as a guard or his recruiting profile says he is a SF it really doesn't matter. We know what his skill set is. Will be a solid player I think.
