Hey all,
Some things that I'm looking at the George Mason game. For the first time this season, I'm really excited. Jordan Price has really inspired this run and I hope it continues. The things that worry me going into the George Mason game is that La Salle is riding the best away record in college basketball. I hope they can get to 5-0 but my gut is telling me that it'll be tough. George Mason has played some quality teams. The fact that the played Old Dominion and Northern Iowa tough speaks volumes of how this game goes. They're also decent at home. Don't let the 5-7 record fool you, George Mason is going to be a gritty game.
In the end it all comes down to Jordan Price. If he stays hot, so do we.

I wasn't aware that we were 4-0 on the road, so that's encouraging. I honestly believed LaSalle would win this game before the season and still do with the emergence of Roberts. While I think it's important that Price stay "hot", I think since he's our best player that the real X factor to me is Roberts. If Roberts is playing good and is able to continue to put up 12-15 points then this team will win.

Looking forward..
To be honest, the Peterson injury (while disappointing because it is his senior year) has really been beneficial in the sense that Roberts is now getting the playing time he deserves. I like Peterson off the bench, and I really think the addition of Roberts in the rotation (and starting) has totally been the difference maker in our team. Roberts appears to be the missing piece- especially since he has provided the additional scoring alongside Price- particularly from behind the arc.
I am optimistic now.. I think this change has been for the better and could be the difference in a solid season vs a poor underacheiving one.

Speaking of George Mason, I had the opportunity to speak with former LaSalle assistant Roland Houston (current GM assistant) at the Slam Dunk to the Beach high school tournment this past weekend in Delaware. He had some nice things to say about LaSalle.
Also, if you ever want to see some unbelievable high school basketball go to the tournment next year. Several top 50 teams participated. Best game was Roselle Catholic(NJ) vs Gonzaga(DC). Roselle won 85-83 in double overtime. The 6'8" kid from Gonzaga (Sam Miller) is going to Dayton and will be a thorn in our side for the next four years.

George Mason is not a game this team can afford to lose. George Mason is honestly the most confusing team in the conference to me. They have a decent roster but Hewitt is one god awful coach. Somehow he manages to lose to bad teams like Cornell and CoC but be competitive with teams such as Old Dominion and UNI. Makes no sense to me. This team isn't very good on the offensive or defensive end either. They play zone for most of the game and Hewitt doesn't make many adjustments to it. They struggle to make their threes and have to heavily rely on their play in the paint. Stop Shevon Thompson La Salle wins the game.
Continue to produce through both Wright/Zack and our guards, play some tough defense we should win. Hopefully Price keeps up this level of play up and Zack and Wright continue to make their shots.

Offense comes and goes. Penn shot 52% and we turned it over 17 times. The other three times teams shot 50% or better was against Vanday, Nova and American. All losses. If we need to stay "hot" but do not tighten up the defense it will be difficlt against the better teams in the conference.

Game opened up GM -1 and the early money quickly changed the line to -1 La Salle. This is a dangerous game because it's hard to go 5-0 away when home court matters in college bball. But it's the holiday break so the crowd shouldn't be bad.
