I see it the opposite. Steve, for his litany of flaws, wants La Salle to win.

Just testing. (before I make my first profound post of the preseason)

I'm not a fan of Angry Al at all. What he calls being realistic, I call being negative 24/7. As someone else pointed out, he's not an Explorer Steve. Wait... Am I the only one who assumed Al and Steve were the same person, just using two names?!

On the old message board, Explorer Steve and another "Al" were the same person. On this site, that "Al" has disappeared. Explorer Steve / Al are now Coachd. Got that now? lol Ghost of You Can't Tell the Players without a Scorecard

Does it bother anyone else that the TGA scoreboard displays Zack as 00 instead of 0?

Whether it would upset me depends on whether Duren was 3 or 03.

Dayton, UMass and Richmond are all picked ahead of us, and I'm not surprised. But I'd like to stick it to these teams in head to head. It doesn't matter what place we come in except to fulfill that objective. But I will say that if we deliver on those wins, that fourth place is not out of the question, as long as we don't roll over and let Fordham or St Joe's steal a win from us. We'll take them one game at a time.

I was discussing this with some of my friends at the open practice on Friday, and they agreed with me on this - I'm interested to hear if this jumped out at anyone else.
I really LOVE both the sequence and the timing of the three-game nonconference stretch at the beginning of December (vs. Nova on Wed, Dec. 3; vs. Temple on Sat, Dec. 6; at Drexel on Sat, Dec. 13). The team will have played a handful of games already and G should have some of their roles figured out at that point. Plus, they will have just played some good competition in New York. What a great three-game stretch to use as a true measuring stick to see where this team is. It's as meaningful a non-conference stretch as I can remember having on the schedule.

I guess a10champion agrees with me, since he already wrote basically the same exact thing on the Schedule thread. I probably should have checked that one out before posting something about the schedule. Still interested to see what other people have to say, though.

Looking forward to that stretch as well. Timed my week off from work in December to match up with that week. Coming down for the Villanova game Wednesday and staying in Philly through the Temple game Saturday. Hopefully they take at least 1 of those 2 while I'm there.

I really like our schedule this year. I would have liked to have that Miami game on the schedule but I will wait.
I think our first four games are decent ones leading up to the Barclays Classic. All winnable games and I like our match ups as well. Quinn and St Peters are going to take sometime to get going. Even with a lose to one of those first couple teams it probably won't hurt us too much. I am more concerned for the St Peters game than any of them out of the 4 and thats just because they return all their starters. St Francis NY while is picked the win the conference is pretty small and I think are front court can take care of business.
Between Virginia, Nova and Temple we have to grab one win out of the three. Two would be nice but I don't think that's realistic. I think we can beat Temple because historically we play well at the Palestra and our front court is much more experienced. I just don't know how good they will be on offense and the same goes for us. Temple is all over the place in their preseason rankings so will see how they do.
Vandy or Rutgers we should be able to handle. I have a little more concern for Rutgers than Vandy but both programs are really struggling right now. Nova and Virginia are going to be tough. Virginia season hinges on their guard play. They have a very talented, defensive, big team but I am not sure where exactly they are at in terms of guard play. Seems as though their season hinges on how far London has progressed. I think we most likely lose this game however we are their first real test away from home. Nova is scary. Their guards are fantastic and I don't know how were going to contain them. Honestly, if we don't beat them this year we won't beat them for a LONG time. However, our record at home the past several years speaks for itself and I like our front court against theirs without Bell. Whether Nova is a ranked team or not and La Salle having a decent record 4-2 or 5-1 the Gola will be packed. Also, I love how it's later to..why... plenty of time for students to get themselves together if you know what I mean. That stretch from Barclays to Temple is so critical.
American and Hofstra are two more good opponents. I think Hofstra is going to be sneaky good. That is a trap game for us IMO. Drexel and Towson are rebuilding and Drexel has already taken hits this offseason. Penn is just Penn right now.

Just wanted to let posters know that I am 99.5% certain that I am the only individual in the state of New Hampshire who owns a La Salle cap.

New Hampshire is small. I don't know if I'm the only one in Texas with one but I'll bet there aren't many if any.

Those games need to be a W, and head into the UVA game at 4-0. The early season home loss against Manhatten last year, kind of brought the team back down to earth, and never really recovered. I'd hate to see that happen again.
