I can't believe respect was given to the Palestra, but holy hell the Ski Lodge and DAC?

Without knowing which 81 arenas are below us, I'm willing to hear all arguments with an open mind.

Ok, I just read. Basically we score points for everything that is transferable to a new arena.

77 DAC > 79 St Louis and 103 Fordham > 109 UMass are obvious mistakes. With Drexel and Fordham rating high above UMass, and Seton Hall's Prudential Center (leased), the ratings would seem they tend to favor small box arenas, when done right. Leased arenas don't have the same down home appeal. I am not sure our new arena will remove the food quality issue, but they are the biggest pretzels I've ever seen, and they are not too expensive. 270 La Salle > 289 Duquesne is not too fair. Duquesne's recent upgrades and walkability to downtown should put them ahead of us. www.stadiumjourney.com/stadiums/tom-gola-arena-s725

I guess you weren't at Gola the night I bought what amounted to a WAWA pretzel for $3. Never again.

The review of fordham's gym somehow overlooks that it has NO BATHROOMS, and you have to exit the gym to the adjoining rec center when the urge strikes.
I also love how old = "historic" to so many simplistic minds. I guess those of us who hated the Everest-like climb to the fourth floor of wister had no sense of history.
In the interest if credit where credit is due, they do get a point or two in my book for that little bar in the basement of the rec center.

I had us at 283. (These things are ludicrous).

I haven't been to the Explorer's Den since '83. Unless it underwent a serious renovation, I would hardly describe it as a small college town place. More like "a dump to quell the serious late night munchies"

If you haven't been somewhere since 1983, I think it's fair to assume things have changed a little.

So maybe I shouldn't get too fired up to eat at the Bagel Bin in the South Hills Mall next weekend?

I haven't been to the Explorer's Den since '83. Unless it underwent a serious renovation, I would hardly describe it as a small college town place. More like "a dump to quell the serious late night munchies" two renovations later... I think they are on the third rendition since I started at La Salle, AND they were closed at least a year in between. The restaurants on that row have been struggling, with Chief's/Closed/Point/Closed/Chinese/ Closed being another example of turnover. Yes, explorers den is a landmark, and it's the "best around" but not in a delicious way

The Blue Hen's Bob #86. Rated higher than Hagan or Liacouras.

So, obviously this list is pretty arbitrary (The DAC is top 100?) and based on the experience of seeing a single game somewhere. But one thing struck me. The big point we get credit for is atmosphere and fans. Where would we be if the list was made five years ago?

Where would we be if the list was made five years ago? I was thinking the same thing. Another list I've thought about the other day is the "Greatest College Basketball Program of All-Time" by Street & Smith's magazine. That list had La Salle at 53rd. If the list was revised, I think the program would jump a few spots to reflect the Sweet 16.

If they moved the games to the tennis courts we'd move up at least 20 spots in the rankings.

That climb to the fourth floor was a challenge for a teenager. hate to think how much it was for professors like Hennesey and Ugo Donini(history) and theology and philosophy instructors.
