Please don't turn this in to anything about this year/ disappointment. Just putting this up in light of this year's Selection Show tonight.

It brought tears to my eyes that night, and still does today. What fantastic memories.

But after tonight I think it's time for everyone to put the past in the past. Hang it in a shelf and enjoy the memory, but (and I know this is not the intention of the thread) I believe the focus and constant reminders of last season was the biggest factor in the lack of success THIS season.
I loved last year so much and couldn't watch the show tonight because of how great it was to be a part of this excitement and it was tough to be left out this year. The game in Dayton was the best La Salle game I've ever attended and likely always will be.
It's great to know this happened and love the memory but we need this program to move on if we ever want to experience it again. I hope G made everyone watch the show together tonight so they could feel how badly they wanted to be back in the limelight and set the tone for 2015 right now

I understand your opinion but couldn't agree less to be honest with you. I'm a fan. I could focus on this year, next year, or the 2022 season, and it wouldn't make one bit of difference. I don't think 2013 should be considered the be all and end all when evaluating the program going forward, but for memories? It's never gonna get old, or be time to move on in my opinion.
The whole point of being a fan, for me, is to grab moments that you can enjoy forever. I don't ever want to stop enjoying the memories from last year, and whether we go 0-31 or 31-0 and win a National Championship, 2012-2013 is going to have a special place in my heart.

Yeah, there's a range of fans that came in post-Simmons that needed last year like you can't believe. If you were there before, it had just been too long and if you were relatively new you didn't get the depths of annual despair. My futility was approaching half my life and would have gotten its drivers license without the bid.

I will continue to hold onto last years tournament run like it is the present until the last Phillies fan lets go of the 2008 World Series team like it didn't happen 5+ years ago!

Don't get me wrong, I still watch those youtube videos all the time, but I think the fans also create a certain energy for the program by constantly harping on the past and not embracing the future or always comparing today to yesterday. Eventually it trickles down into the overall atmosphere of the program. I'm not saying as fans that it should be forgotten, but we need to stop comparing every play to 2013. Duren and Galloway aren't coming back through the door, it's time for a new crop to step up and do even more damage. That group last year will hold as special a place for me as Steve Smith and Jermaine Thomas do because they were such a huge piece of bringing the program back where we all want and need it to be, but I don't want 2013 to be the highlight of my fandom because if it is, then nothing will ever be as good and my enjoyment will never be as deep.
I lived and died through 17 seasons of futility night in and night out before last season. Hearing the roar of the student section when the players took the floor for the first time this year was like something I never experienced in my life and it almost brought tears to my eyes. The energy in Gola early on was incredible and what I want more than anything now is to have it all back. In my mind, I look at groups of teams sort of like that chapter in the bible around Christmas time when they spout out the whole lineage of Jesus (Moses begot, so-and-so, who married Ruth, who begot - so-and-so) - and before anyone gets upset, by no means am I comparing La Salle basketball to Jesus Christ. But, Steve Smitha nd Jermaine THomas stuck around after the incident and then along came Paul Johnson and that group finally broke through with a winning season and an A10 bye. That group then lead to Rodney Green, Kimmani Barrett, Yves Mbal, etc. which started to give La Salle some warranted pre-season praise their senior year and they broke through with that great win over SJU as Juniors - that group then lead to landing guys like Duren, Mills and even Aaric Murray, which gave the team an air of legitimacy that once Ramon Galloway was added for Aaric Murray, everything finally came together. What I'm most excited about as a fan is to see what this next group of players (Price, Roberts, Stukes, Schuler, Wright, Zack, Washington) can achieve. Maybe they won't see 3 wins in 1 NCAA tournament, but maybe they can achieve 3 wins in 3 NCAA tournaments. To me, that's what it's time to focus on.
