Thanks, Explorerman, I really appreciate it. Anything more you can add? It is certainly wanted from this poster! I remember last spring you said Siena was absolutely on deck next and 2014 was always the target year. Did something change that now BU and COC are in the mix too? (besides the BE's movement) These were your posts from last May on the subject: explorertown.proboards.com/thread/762/davidson-10The A-10 wants you. Waiting until the other schools (STL and Dayton) give a notice to the commish. As I have mentioned, the A-10 has kept a very open relationship with all of its Presidents to the point where they feel comfortable about leaving. This has been brought to public by Andy Katz when the CAA was getting killed by the national media with its handling of Mason and ODU. The Presidents believe they have the infrastructure to be a consistently talented program..I have been on record that Siena and GMU were going to be the first schools in, the only exception would be if Davidson came off their COC inclusion with them. Siena will absolutely be in eventually. Iona is in there with Fairfield and COC after Siena. If you hear anything later (on A10 realignment) that you can share here that would be great too!

I can't say I'm knowledgable about this expansion talk, but little to nothing has slipped out since this past summer on Siena joining up. I wouldn't hate it though.

The arena in Newark is not as easily accessed as they would have you believe. I went to a Rangers-Devils game there not long after it opened, having fallen for that line. The trains were packed to the gills, including before the game, when I left two hours early to account for it. After the game was even worse, obviously, with everyone leaving together (I took NJ transit from penn station to penn station).
Once you get to Newark, the "one block walk" is more like 8-10 blocks through an area that looks like a bomb hit it. The arena itself is nice enough, but has no distinguishing characteristics whatsoever.

A10 moving out of Barclay Center for 2017 and 2018 tournaments. ACC will be there. The A10 will then have the tournament back in Brooklyn for 2019, 2020 and 2021 tournaments.
There will be ACC/A10 doubleheaders at Barclay Center. No word on who and when yet. I suspect it will be a doubleheader or two over the next few years.

Not passing judgement until I hear where we land during those non-Brooklyn years.

It is 3.5 blocks, or 0.5 miles, or 11 minutes per google maps (and I've done it for Liberty games when they were the NJ Liberty briefly). You might have made a wrong turn, sounds like. Are you sure you're not thinking of the walk to Fordham? That's a topic for another thread.

DC is a great spot. Excellent bars/restaurants/nightlife near the arena. Easy to get around and see great things. Free museums and mall are within walking distance to arena. Nobody else has a tourney there then.
GW and Mason could host.
Richmond, VCU, SJU, LSU and Duquense are only 2-3.5 hours away so they could easily get there. All other teams have an easy flight to National or Dulles.
Makes too much sense, so it probably will be somewhere else :-0

I had pie in the sky hopes that the A10 would get actual home games against the ACC in this deal, I guess that was silly. Something like VCU/DUKE and St Louis/Carolina on national TV in New York would be great for the conference though. My guess is that we'd have to have another sweet 16 type year to be included in the doubleheaders.

Any of the high schools in Wilmington have a super nice gym? Seats behind the basket preferred but not required.

Few thoughts based on the press release today..
1) Seems like the ACC is positioning itself to get into New York (2017 & 2018) while leaving the door open to take over MSG from the Big East down the road. Does the Big East have MSG through 2026?
2) A-10 could have done worse in this deal. 6 of the next 8 A-10 tournaments will be held in Brooklyn, plus they get a placeholder in the Brooklyn Hoops events annually and doubleheaders with the ACC for three years. While I wish it included more ACC games, we could have had zero commitment from the ACC.
3) I can understand the skepticism regarding which teams will be involved in the ACC doubleheaders... and I would take it one step further to say the "premier" teams (i.e. Duke & UNC) will probably not be involved. Do not be surprised when we get Boston College or other perennial cellar dwellers... against the cream of the A-10 crop. Only chance Syracuse gets involved is its relative proximity / being an in-state game.

12/22/15: GW vs. Virginia Tech Fordham vs. BC
That's the A10 ACC doubleheader...

One of three....could definitely be worse
GW vs VT isn't bad at all but the other man oh man it's bad. The ACC could find itself losing both. Exactly what I expected they weren't going to give us Duke, UNC, Virginia etc in the first of the three.
