"A non-affiliated male was shot at Uber & Olney. The two suspects fled north on 20th St.
Security advises students to stay away from the area until further notice."

Given the tweet(s) about seeing it happen and the direction the seats face in College Hall, Uber & Olney makes more sense.

I sat through two campus lockdowns when working on campus. Both times involved cop killings. Not some of my favorite campus memories.

Fatality. Chief Inspector Scott Small PPD...."nothing to do with La Salle University."

Scott Small is a good guy, ain't in the business of bullshitting or sugar coating things.
Good news is... Shooting occur on/near every other college campus in urban Philly daily. And we aren't the only school in the news, everyone takes a turn. Twisted way to look at it, but that's reality.

"apparently someone was just shot outside college hall and la salle hasnt notified anyone" And I'm not expecting college kids to understand this, but notifications aren't the first priority in this situation if the risk is not imminent. That's an impossible sell to those who want information or concerned, but I'm sure they'll share everything they can when first possible. Priorities.

That one guy on that board that's a La Salle fan is a herb.
Look, shootings that happen essentially on campus (which the corner of Olney and Uber is) are a problem. During the daytime no less. We can have as much school pride as we'd like, and still say this is really not something that is good for the school.
Plus, someone died, which is the most troubling thing, regardless of where it happened.

PH4L quickly started the thread and two La Salle posters took him to task. My thought is they will delete the thread soon anyway. Help me out... According to Philly.com: "The shooting occurred feet from where the school's president, Brother Michael McGinniss, lives, according to a source in the university."How is it wrong to discuss this on social media? How is it wrong to note that it occurred on/near La Salle's campus? Why is there an attempt to "take anyone to task"? This is a major regional news story covered by EVERY local media outlet... Why would a La Salle supported be bother by a post citing the story on an SJU message board. When I was in college at Lincoln University, there was shooting in my friend's dorm after he won a crap game in the laundry room... I love my school... But if that were to occur again, I would not feel a need to "take anyone to task" for discussing such an incident. In the same thread, I noted that I have had friends robbed an severely injured (lost several teeth) on Penn's campus... Did the two posters also contact AP, Philly.com, CBS, NBC, ABC, KYW, etc.? What about the score of tweets? Am I special?

How is it wrong to discuss this on social media? Â How is it wrong to note that it occurred on/near La Salle's campus? Â Why is there an attempt to "take anyone to task"? You aren't wrong, you're just an ass. You played to your audience because you knew it was going to start the typical 'anti-lossalle' banter. It just wasn't heading in a direction of good taste and you set that stage. Don't be surprised since you took the first shot. Why would a La Salle supporter be bother by a post citing the story on an SJU message board? And for the same reason you and many of your hawk-wankers frequently preach here and many other forums. I think you proved my point - Your visit has you looking as stupid as the La Salle fans that frequent your dump. I don't endorse it either direction, more times than not you end up making the overall name look foolish.

I don't endorse is it either direction, more times than not you end up making the overall name look foolish. Wow... an "Ass"... If you can identify one post or anything I have ever written anywhere that was critical of LaSalle... I'll give you $100 immediately... Never have, never will... I didn't attend SJU... I'm just a fan of their BBall team... I've NEVER called anyone an "Ass" on social media either... Just last week I tried mightily to defend Temple's campus as a safe place to go see a basketball game on the SJU board. I pointed out that Drexel and Penn students were subjected to urban crime as well... So, this happens on/near Penn and I just identified it as another example of urban crime that can happen anywhere. That makes me an "Ass"? I'm beginning to realize there's level to this inter school CITY 6 rivalry that I truly do not understand. I couldn't afford to go to any of the City 6 schools. I actually think they are ALL great places and fine institutions of higher learning. I know and respect people that work at each of the schools. I spend time with each of the coaching staffs. All good guys. Never have felt unsafe or threatened on any of the campuses. I don't know you... I try to interact on social media platforms in the same manner I do in person... I don't say anything on-line that I wouldn't say in person or sign my name to. It's unfortunate that a person died on/near La Salle's campus today. In no way do think that is indicative of any problems or safety issues at La Salle. Never said anything different. My name is Delgreco K. Wilson... Not "Ass"... I would really appreciate it if you could use my name when referring to me. If you insist on calling me an "Ass", I ask that you do so in person... I'll be at the A10 Tournament we can arrange a meeting at your convenience.

If you can identify one post or anything I have ever written anywhere that was critical of LaSalle... I'll give you $100 immediately... considering you cherry picked two tweets targeting the image of la salle, I don't think your motive is very well hidden. "You know you go to la salle when you watch someone get shot outside your classroom window" "apparently someone was just shot outside college hall and la salle hasnt notified anyone" Someone without bias wouldn't introduce such an ugly topic in the manner in which you did. I think it was in very poor taste. If you insist on calling me an "Ass", I ask that you do so in person... I'll be at the A10 Tournament we can arrange a meeting at your convenience. Stop with the posturing already. You look dumb. I'll meet you and your internet muscles at the flag pole, 3pm. Gosh.

Stop with the posturing already. You look dumb. I'll meet you and your internet muscles at the flag pole, 3pm. Gosh. Here's the thing... I pulled those quotes because they were last thing posted on this site at the time.... Within 1 minute of that initial post, I searched the internet and found a 6ABC news account of the shooting and immediately posted it right below the tweets taken from this site... they are still up... Again... I don't know you... I don't presume to know anything about how you think or what your intentions are.... I can say for certain that this little SJU-La Salle rivalry has extended way beyond a healthy range for you... Dude, it's just no that serious... Again... I've NEVER posted a single negative thing about LaSalle and I have thousands of posts on the SJU board, the Temple board and this board.... There was a man laying dead on the sidewalk outside the President's house and you are worried about what I wrote on the SJU message board about the incident... I find that amazing... You keep resorting to name calling. I have been called an "Ass" and now I'm "dumb"? I didn't expect anyone from SJU to make light of the situation and "clown" La Salle. And, you know what, no one did... I don;t engage in La Salle bashing, or Temple bashing, or Drexel bashing, or Penn bashing... I might taunt Nova fans a little but only about BBall and always in a good natured way. The issue worth talking about here is the unfortunate loss of life and the fact that it occurred in close proximity to an institution of higher education. I ALWAYS appreciate an informed, reasonable exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions. At 49, I find it difficult to engage in name calling on social media especially behind made up screen names. La Salle is a fine institution. A very good school attended by quite a few of my friends and people I truly respect. If you can't accept that statement from me because I am a fan of SJU BBall and post on an SJU BBall message board, that's truly unfortunate. I Post about many different subjects. I blog about a wide range of topics. My purpose is always to inform and further constructive discussion or to inquire about something I want to learn. That's why I am ALWAYS willing to sign my name and stand behind the things I say on line. Keyboards and anonymity tend to make people act a LOT differently than they do in person. I asked for some help understanding what I have done to wrong the La Salle community. You told me I'm an "Ass" and I'm "dumb". Thanks for the feedback.... Have a wonderful evening my friend. Good Luck in the A10 tournament!! Delgreco K. Wilson delgrecowilson@aol.com www.delgrecowilson.com1100 East State Street (office) Camden, NJ 08105

It's time to give the holier than thou pitch a rest. It's a bad take and now it looks like your just using the event to advertise your name or your blog or something.
Yes, you chose to repost insensitive tweets that are not thoughtful, constructive or any of the other verbs you use. You also found them here, but you didn't cite your source, so we are bound to think your cherry picking.
To directly answer your question prior to the rant: If posted to us, that would be fine and potentially informative. But you posted to an audience that historically talks sh*t about the campus as well as the school and is now looking to you for more reasons to continue that course. We expect there to be a running news reel of trash talk over there. Thats why i never lurk. Even if you don't mean to, it looks to us like you're stirring the pot and throwing fuel on the fire at our expense and at the expense of a human life. I am sure that is why other posters felt wronged & stepped in. I'm also rather sure that isn't your intention but we have to take our best shot at reading into it with the pretense of where it is posted. The other posters didn't contact ap, cbs, fox etc. because those news sources don't serve a niche audience. You are more of a target than those news sources are if they repost inflammatory tweets. You are looking to bridge the gap as a philly basketball and community supporter and demand respect from both sides. If that is the case we also must demand a higher level of respect in return. If we ask for you to act respectfully and in return you ruin our board with attacks and rants like this then expect to be called names at a minimum and blacklisted at a max.
On our side: calling someone "dumb" or an "ass" isn't always fair, but the righteous attacks and challenging someone online to a fight at the tournament or whatever that was supposed to be are on my short list of things that I would not do if i was acting maturely. I would have apologized and pulled the post. Respectfully. I wouldn't make multiple rants all about myself.
My thoughts go out to the family members and to anyone that saw the murder happen, it's tragic that this traumatic event occurred.

My thoughts go out to the family members and to anyone that saw the murder happen, it's tragic that this traumatic event occurred. I listed the blog because it has 20 plus entries and is publicly available. I post on this site, the Temple site and the SJU site under the same name.... I make no attempt to hide behind my screen name... There are no new entries in the blog and the last was was posted here several weeks ago. It's a free wordpress blog which generates NO revenue at all. I posted it so people can see Nonetheless, I guess I understand your position. There's no problem with what I said. The problem is "where" I said it... And... I didn't challenge him to a fight... I think a huge part of the problem is the anonymity provided by screen names. I have never been called an "Ass" or "dumb" by a stranger in person. Honestly, I have serious doubts that Duren Duren would call me that in person. I think discussing issues in person tends to lead to de-escalation rather than further confrontation and fighting. My intention would be to reason with him and ASK him to refrain from calling me anything other than my name. I have had exactly 1 fight in the last 30+ years. If wanting to meet the fella that called me an "Ass" is "holier than thou" or self-righteous then so be it... Gentlemen... Again... La Salle, Temple, SJU, Penn, Nova, Drexel, Holy Family, Philly U, Univ of Sciences, Bryn Mawr and every other college in Philadelphia is great place for kids to learn and transition to adulthood. I have no hidden agenda to besmerch ANY University. I have no stake in any of the rivalries between you guys and the other schools... Rather, I am a part of the Lincoln-Cheyney rivalry which dates back to 1854... This is your cyber-community and I respect that. Good luck in the A10 tournament....

Without having seen the St. Joseph's post, this feels like our typical "we can say it but you better shut up saying what I just said" pattern. Especially if all he did was post those two tweets, which were the first two I found as everything was breaking. I have no context to go on (because I really don't care to sign up over there and become what I mock), but maybe its nothing or us overreacting again?
We should still have the arm-wrestling, though.

Full disclosure... these are the posts VERBATIM... I talk about crime and violence at Temple, Penn, Drexel, WCU and La Salle... The unfortunate incident on/near your campus sparked a dialogue about a larger issue.. No intention to damage or insult La Salle... VERBATIM.. with actual times of the posts.. Post # 1 at 1:46Posted: Yesterday 1:46 PM Right now... On twitter... "You know you go to La salle when you watch someone get shot outside your classroom window" "apparently someone was just shot outside college hall and la salle hasnt notified anyone" It's not just Temple... Post #2 at 1:47Posted: Yesterday 1:47 PM Re: Right now... abclocal.go.com/wpvi/st...&id=9461967Post #3 at 1:58Posted: Yesterday 1:58 PM RE: Right now... Bigfan1964 wrote: There was an armed robbery inside the student center at West Chester U last week or so. The Second Amendment is everywhere... I wrote: My daughter is at WCU... She chose it because she thought she could avoid that kind of stuff... One of my friend's son had his teeth knocked out during a robbery on Penn's campus a couple of years ago... Post #4 at 2:20Posted: Yesterday 2:20 PM RE: Right now... Last week there was an interesting discussion about potential sites for the A10 tournament... I and a few others suggested Liacouras... Some scoffed at the idea because they viewed Temple's campus as "high risk" for violence and crime.... The fact that the area surrounding the Palestra has been plagued with violence and crime was also noted... I found the fact that there was a MURDER a few minutes ago on LaSalle's very interesting in light of the recent discussion...

Really still trying to figure out why any of this belongs on a message board dedicated to La Salle or for that matter, St. Joe basketball. There are plenty of boards and discussion sites out there (and sub-sections of this and St. Joe's board) that deal with general topics of interest to the school's students and alumni.
