I don't know much about Shuler but this article makes me think he has some of those intangible leadership qualities that a team can rally around. That and his quotes don't make him sound like the quiet type. Any idea if he will be red shirting next year or coming in as a true freshman?

Earlier in the year I thought Schuler two star rating was about right but after winning ten straight games at the end of the season to win the champinoship plus winning some of those games against teams who earlier in the season had thumped his team I am sold. Keep in mind he is the best player on a 25-6 championship team and he controlled the tempo of those playoff games. He is a great foul shooter, good ball handler and an all around very good player who shared player of the year honors in his league. I said a few months back that next season G will have his most talented team with great size (and yes I believe better shooting)since becoming head coach. One player who better learn to shoot better is A. Stukes who must correct his shooting which was below average last year. I like all five players G has coming in next year with Price, Roberts and Washington all possibly being future stars in the A10 with Sculer and Stukes not to far behind. In the long run maybe this season will take any pressure off next years players although G's screaming will not help.

Wasn't that excited about Shuler but I always check verbal commits time and time again to see what the deal wit Tilghman and Tarin Smith is. However, seen a lot of publicity about Shuler this year. Transfering really helped him clearly and he had a fantastic season. Really hoping Price is as good as his recruiting profile. I know close to nothing about Tony and I hope Cleon adapts quickly. This is G most talented roster and if he doesnt do something with it I will be more concerned on how long his contract extension is.

He was 2nd team all MET last year and almost certainly will be 1st team this year. The names on those all-MET teams are no joke - the majority are high major players.
Really really excited to see what Johnnie can do for us.

Another 2star recruit PG is going to be one of the most decorated players this year Shuler is going to be a fantastic addition and, as I mentioned before, going to be force Stukes to develop a shot.. DC is arguably the deepest area for talent in the country

I don't totally buy into the ratings either, just wondering if that played a role. His size disadvantage may be overcome by quickness and seeing the limited amount of film I have seen of him, he looks very quick.

A10 I am with you regarding T.Washington in that he is the biggest unknown. I have watched as many videos on him that I could find and he has pretty good vertical and is lean (not skinny) which makes him a good shot blocker and rebounder ( blocker)something we have really never had. He and his fellow player (who committed to Gergetown) were the two best players on their team. Washingto I believe was the second leading scorer, leading rebounder and shot blocker.

Marquis Wright is having a strong season as a freshman @ Siena - 5.5 Assists/gm, 9 PPG (1.8 A/TO Ratio as well)
If Schuler has a similar kind of season, I think we'll all be quite happy.
The rest of those players are nothing to sneeze at by any means.
8 long months until the season starts....

This is really good to see. Sadly the way this season has gone it's time to start getting excited about the next wave of Explorers coming in and it seems like we have a solid one in Shuler

With 5 guards already (Roberts, Price, Stukes, Lewis and DJ) is he a candidate for redshirt?

Four of those guys aren't really point guards (though an argument could be made that Lewis could be, I just don't know if Giannini sees it that way). I think Shuler is at this level and from the looks of it, could be a very good one.

Some of these guys are pretty good besides Marquis Wright. Nigel Johnson contributes at K State and so does Ishmail Wainright for Baylor. I am really opposed to Shuler being redshirted. If we were to get Zoran which I really would not be excited about I would redshirt him but besides that I am pretty against redshirting anyone next season. I like G to actually show he can develop a full roster and use it affectively. I still can't believe after the VCU game how much little time Rohan Brown has got.

G going to have to use a very different style, he has many options but needs to use the best style that works for everyone not just the guards. He has a lot of thinking and evaluating to do this off season.

I know you guys may like this but J.Schuler is my point guard because he is quick, can hit the three, is a great foul shooter, is a leader on the floor and plays with great confidence. In game the other day he started his team out in the first quarter hitting a three and going over a defender with a jam which is something when you consider he is only 5'-11". It doesn't mean Stukes won't be a player but we need a difference maker and Schuler looks the part. My players who see the floor next season for significant minutes are Wright, Zack, Washington, Price, Roberts, Peterson, Schuler and Stukes with Brown, Lewis and ? seeing minor minutes unless ? is a good recruit. I believe J.Davis will transfer but that is simply a guess.

Look up the recent Gatorade POY winners from DC. I think we have a lot to look forward to. Give me Shuler, Roberts, Price, Wright, and Zack as starting five and bring DJ, Rohan, Stukes, and Washington off the bench and I'm cautiously optimistic about 14-15. www.gatorade.com/poy/winners.aspx
