IMO, The optimum time for the President and BOT of La Salle University to announce the kick-off of it's capital campaign for the construction of a new on campus 5000 seat Tom Gola Arena is NOW !
As with the Hayman Center, the naming of the overall building could be in honor of a key donor.

Yeah, just after committing the funds to the new business school. Optimal indeed.

1stfloor: With all due respect, much has been written of late on this Board expressing concern that the University has failed or will fail to fully capitalize on the local and national goodwill toward La Salle generated by last season's run to the Sweet Sixteen.
The funding for the new Business School building is largely in place. The apparent assumption that those alumni who have donated to the new Business School are necessarily the same individuals as the alumni who would be interested in contributing to a new Tom Gola Arena is totally unproven.
My fear is that, to anyone who is unable to grasp the importance and significance of how the local news coverage of this past week has positively impacted the public's and the alumni's perception and goodwill toward La Salle University, both locally and nationally ( as it relates to both the timing and potential success of the capital campaign for a new Tom Gola Arena ), nothing I can say here will make any difference.

Its fitting that even in death Tom Gola continues to bring good will and positive press to his beloved La Salle.

Here is some encouraging news for the new arena.
John Glazer committed $7 million on his death to a new arena. The university does not get the money until ground is broken for the new arena. John has done his alma mater a great service to make this gift in this fashion.

His generosity towards the La Salle community is nothing short of amazing.
