We all know Temple's taking a beating for jumping to a conference that is for football members.
But take a look at how Butler is about to go 0-5 (after Tuesday) in the new Big "Smaller" East!

Truth is both Temple and Butler lost way to much to graduation to be anything other than .500 at best by the time season ends.

Yeah, what are you trying to say? The A10 is weaker and that Temple and Butler would be better off playing in the A10 this year than in the AAC or Big East respectively? If that is your point, it doesn't make any sense (which seems to be par for the course for your posts.)

Kudos for Temple, Butler and Xavier stepping up in class. Can't get on Butler. They lost their coach. Give them one year.

Yes playing UCONN, Memphis, Cincinnati and SMU is a step up in class let alone playing against Louisville for one year.

If Butler and Temple had remained in A10 both would have finished between 7-9 in conference. They were not going to be very good no matter what conference they played in. Owls will have another tough season next year.

Look there's no question the AAC is much better 1-4 than the A10 but their bottom half is nothing to write home about. Plus, it's such a bland, characterless, hodgepodge of a league. It's got the personality of Conference USA.

Rutgers is also leaving for the Big 10. UConn would leave tomorrow if they could. I just don't see the interest in playing Central Florida, Tulsa, ect and teams that have no rivalries with Temple. Temple had to park their excuse for a football team somewhere.

Temple made a ton of sacrifices for their football team with no guarantees that they will succeed. Are Temple alums excited about the football teams coming to play in Philly? Is it worth sacrificing the sports and rivalries that took decades to build up?
For Butler, the should learn that you can hop into 3 conferences over 3 years and not expect to pay a recruiting and/or coaching price. Plus from a fan standpoint you start to question how long the "rivalries" will last.
And both programs would be near the bottom if they stayed in the A10... but at least the sacrifices they made would be less costly (dollars not the only factor) in the next few years.

Why don't you go ask that question on a Temple message board? Also, based on this statement: "For Butler, the[y] should learn that you can hop into 3 conferences over 3 years and not expect to pay a recruiting and/or coaching price" if they are not paying a price, what's the problem?

Call me crazy, but I don't believe Temple will be down (basketball-wise) for very long. They have talent coming in via transfers. They could turn it around rather quickly...

They've got a talent out the butt sitting on the bench next year coming by the way of transfers. I think they'll be much better next year than most are saying.

Duren you are correct they do have some nice players coming in. I am trying to remember but Price and Roberts were 4 star and Schuler and Washington 3 star recruits is that correct. Both schools have good players joining their respective programs next season.

We learned this year though, talent is just talent, doesn't mean squat until it's put on the court together.

Washington will be a GREAT reserve but price and stukes will define our season next year. Beat Rhode Island!!!

Roberts Washington are 3 star and Schuler is a 2 star recruit. Temple has three players coming in who are either 3 or 4 star recruits.

My point is more that these star rankings are almost arbitrarily assigned by a variety of "experts" that almost never see these kids play, outside of the top tier recruits, writing opinions based other equally less qualified opinions. It's like whisper down the lane, but with everyone's heads up each other's asses.
It's a crap show, and done because it's easily consumed and people are eating it up. I don't think Giannini has ever paid attention to "star rankings," and the difference between a kid being a 4 star and 3 star likely isn't much in most instances.

GW is a perfect example of why stars don't matters. It is all about how you develop players and getting the most out of the talent they have. G and Lonergan have proved that as well as other coaches.

I come here for most of my material. Half of my jokes revolve around Dr Denim references and new arena jokes.
