No, this is not a political rant but a question about the media (for all those former Collegian Reporters).
I'm watching GMA and Today this morning and w/ all the news about the IRS/AP Reporters Wiretaps and Bengazi both shows lead off with news about Anelina Jolie's double mastectomy. Is that really first story news worthy?
p.s. Mr. Moderator if you don't want this thread generating "political talk" feel free to delete but I was just curious what our reporters and communications majors thought.

It's not political, and I agree most of the news media is for shit, but "Good Morning America" and "Today" are not hard news programs. They're aimed mostly at women, and the Angelina Jolie story is right in their wheelhouse.

It'll be interesting to see how the AP story unfolds, since it directly affects the press. I don't think Bengazi has any legs. Yeah, its a story, but the MM isn't going anywhere with it to protect BO. Plus it took place half a world away. Same with the IRS story since they hate the TP's and Conservatives anyhow. But the AP story....it's got legs. And the more its looked into, the more they will find. Morning Joe spent a significant amount of time on it this AM. Joe, Barnacle, some chick from the AP..they they were hitting the admin pretty hard at the top of the show. Kinda surprising since it was MSNBC. Barnacles quote was that he woke up, and thought it was 1973 all over again....Pretty harsh stuff.

Republicans have been trying to destroy the American economy for going on five years now, partially because their racist Southern base hates having an African American in the White House. It follows they've been trying, and failing, for months to push a "Bengazi coverup" meme, without coherently telling what the "coverup" is. Btw, the IRS has no Director (only an acting director, I believe apponted by Bush) because of Republican repeated abuse of the filibuster to block not only many, many Administration appointees, but also numerous judgeships. Tea Partiers hate the IRS and any media (even rightleaning CNN) except for GOP spokesman Fox, so their sad on the AP is amusing. Imagine this happened under Bush II and the endless talking points on Fox attacking any word of criticism of a GOP President "protecting the American people from terrorism". Not an "Act of Terror", because Issa knows an "Act of Terror" is totally different from "Terrorism". GOP efforts to compare AP story to Watergate is merely the latest in GOP efforts since 1974 (don't forget their farcical failure to use impeachment to remove President Clinton from office and hurt his popularity). Their rage will really increase when President Hillary Clinton takes the oath of office in January 2017. Anybody wonder what the real Republican motivation is to continually try their "Bengazi coverup" ploy? Sorry if this is an offensive, political reply to some. Administrator should feel free to delete. I just get tired at seeing (not particularly here but in general) Fox talking points regurgitated---even by University graduates. Unlike an older forum, people here seem not irrationally biased. (Feel free to except poster).

I'm not going to edit it because it's on the "Other discussion" board, but I think it's very inappropriate and intentionally inflammatory, and that you should self-edit.

Is that really first story news worthy? I'd wager to say 90% of Americans couldn't place Bengazi on a map, and it won't get the ratings that Jolie's boobs will. Ratings = Money.
