Tim Legler has .01% the reach of Woj.

Tim Legler has .01% the reach of Woj. That .01% is better than what we got now. If Tim Legler wants to be GM of La Salle basketball and not a guy on ESPN I’ll have him for the salary of what a GM of La Salle basketball warrants.

Listen fellas, Legs was a whiny bitch when Ashley Howard was hired. I've seen Tim at his best, I've seen him out on the town where he's been having a good time. More than one thing can be true.
In 2024, Tim Legler is our most well known alum. Is he Woj? No, but he's probably in the ballpark. We don't have any NBA players in the league right now. We have a handful of coaches in high level basketball, probably 2 handfuls of living former NBA players, nobody in Hollywood, Jill Mele and a few guys in print and other media types.
We are a small band of brothers here. We don't have the luxury of snubbing our top guys. So if you disagree with Jill Mele's career choices, so be it, but she's a high profile Explorer. Legs acts like a bitch? Fine, but it's 6 years later and a new coaching staff and head regime. His pouting from 2018 can't be a lifetime sentence from La Salle.
The speedy bullshit went on waaayyy too long in the past. He was fired in 2001. It took a decade to repair relationships with him and his players.... that's too long. I guarantee you that it won't be that long for St. Joes and Phil. As soon as Jill is out, Martelli will be back, if not sooner.
We can all have differing opinions. We are too fucking small to permanently shun our own because of these different opinions. Learn from the speedy thing. At then end of day, La Salle is the one that's hurt by it all.
Legs will keep his job in Bristol. Speedy and his players weren't hurt by the rift. La Salle gets hurt by the rift. In today's climate, we need to circle the wagons, and every Explorer needs to be welcomed to join the circle.
It takes all of us.

Well stated thelasallelunatic. That relationship needs to be mended. Would he have been a better coach than Ash? Hard to say. Ash has the worst record of any of La Salle's head coaches in history so the bar is low for "if Legler would have been better than Ash", but you're right...we don't have the luxury of snubbing anyone who might be in our corner.

I would actually say that CIA Director William Burns (and possible next Secretary of State) is our most well-known alum but that’s just me.

I'm not saying snub him, but let's be honest, he was dumping on La Salle pretty hard. I think the way he acted speaks volumes as to who he is as a person. If any fences should be mended, it should be Legler coming to the administration, hat in hand with a mea culpa. I think only then should they work with him. Is he man enough to admit he was wrong? Don't know.

And I think it’s prob Raftery. Or Jim Kenney. Thank God no one mentioned this guy who had ties to people involved in the Oklahoma City bombing: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_BresciaHe was a year behind me and was in the jazz/pep bands for a couple of years. I think he went to La Salle HS but I might be mistaken.

He played drums or guitar in the band, and I honestly don't even remember speaking with him during the time we overlapped in the band. I don't remember him as outgoing or "likeable" and always got kind of a weird vibe from him....had this crazy half-shaved head hairdo going on. Googled and found this. My memory was correct...he definitely went to La Salle HS. web.archive.org/web/20021112091054/http://www.telegraph.co.uk/htmlContent.jhtml?html=%2Farchive%2F1996%2F07%2F01%2Fwokla30.html Brescia, 24, comes from a solid Catholic family in Philadelphia, the son of a battalion chief in the fire brigade. He was an Eagle Scout at a private high school, and then went on to study finance at La Salle University in Philadelphia.
"He was a very outgoing, likeable guy, but he tried to set up a white supremacist group on campus," said George Ralko, a "brother" in the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. "We threatened to revoke his membership. We told him the fraternity wouldn't tolerate that kind of behaviour."
In 1993, in his third year at La Salle, he mysteriously dropped out, telling friends that he was taking up a job offer in Oklahoma.

I found a whole book about the guys involved and can post some excerpts later. Lots of mentions of him, a skinhead band he was in, how he got involved with these nuts, etc. Completely wild.

He seemed like a misfit, and that seems to be a very common origin story for domestic terrorists. Now thinking about Michael Rappaport's character in Higher Learning.....

I was down a rabbit hole today reading about this. He’s been out of jail and apparently married according to his moms obit! I was as well this morning. There was a book written about it: In Bad company : America's Terrorist UndergroundI think it is out of print now, but you can find it here to read for free if you create an account and just search his name (which comes up over 70 times in the book). A few screenshots below. The dude did guerilla warfare training in the Ozarks. I can't believe I was in band practice with this guy twice a week and he was "John Doe 2" seen with McVeigh the day of the bombing. archive.org/details/inbadcompanyamer0000hamm

I get where his frat brother was coming from but “Super good dude, real likeable. Had to talk him out of starting the La Salle chapter of the Aryan Nation though” is quite the combination of sentiments back to back.

He wasnt in a fraternity is the traditional keg party sense. It seems to have been the business school fraternity, which I actually didnt think actually hung out together. I wouldnt know as my grades werent good enough. He was in Delta Sigma Pi as opposed to Delta Sigma Phi ("delta sig").
