Nice article in today's Inquirer about the baseball program. Puri is tuned in as to how to build a solid program. I'm really impressed by his approaches to our overall sports program. Initiating a capitol gift as part of the season ticket package for men's basketball while painful to some is necessary for the success of the program. He is providing us with professional leadership in a time of need. Glad to have him at La Salle.

I saw the title of the thread and went “oh crap another school offered him a big contract and he is leaving”
It is imperative that the school keeps Ash and Dr Allen for at least another five years to see growth thru. And if in five years they have built things up considerably and say a bigger school offers more money, then they have left their jobs with more prestige to attract high end candidates

Ash has provided leadership, direction, and energy to the athletic department that in my personal opinion has never been present since my graduation in 1971. It palpable and I hope can spread to all areas of our alma mater with school spirit that is sorely lacking.

La Salle needs to find a way to keep Ash. He is very impressive. Don’t know enough about Allen. He is a friend to basketball which is great but I am anxious to see what improvements to the university he will bring. Especially with regards to enrollment and building the endowment.

This in response to Nova AD being targeted for the Northwestern job.
Ash would go back to Nova. Can’t pay him Nova money to keep him, but the cupboard is bare.

Really hope he wants to see the project through and get the praise he deserves for it.

Damn. Was hoping to get 3-5 years from him. Hopefully we can keep him but we all know if Nova comes calling…..

Wow, Aronimink could lose a member (Jackson) and more importantly, we could lose a very good AD. Fingers crossed he stays.

Jackson makes over $1M at Villanova. La Salle is probably paying Ashwin $275K max...and that's a high guess. No way he stays if he can make 3 - 4x as much on the Main Line.
Also lives about 1 mile from Villanova's campus. Has La Salle flags outside his house facing Montgomery Ave which I found hilarious dropping my son off at Villanova this year.

Neptune was already a bit on the hot seat there with some heavy hitter donors. I'd imagine losing the cover of the guy who hired him puts him on really shaky ground.

Yeah...and my oldest son went to Nova (also on full ride...and they won a damned National Championship when he was there)...so now I'm really outnumbered.

Jackson didn’t hire Neptune. Let’s be honest - Jay Wright made that call

He already brings in bucks for them. I doubt he wants this role. Too much stress and wouldn't be able to do TV anymore.

Jackson's salary would be close to $3M going to Northwestern - 3x what he makes at Nova. Sort of amazing that Ashwin, as an AD at La Salle, makes about 1/10 of the AD salary of Northwestern.

I wonder why Northwestern wouldn't hire Baptiste from his tenure there.

My conclusion (after reading many of your posts) is that they inherited their mother's intellect.
