Great win tonight against a good Bonnies teams. Winning by 13 points is very impressive tonight. Shepherd (22 points and 7 rebounds and 4\8 from 3’s) came out against balling early in the game. In the past two games Shepherd has been averaging 21 points and 5.5 rebounds in the past two home win. Brickus (15 points and 5 assists) and Fasasi (10 points) played well tonight. Gill (8 points and 5 rebounds) had a strong game coming off the bench. The highlight of the night was our defense. Our defense pretty much shut down the Bonnies offense tonight. My armchair coach player of the game for the second week is Daeshon Shepherd. Shepherd been like a beast in the past two games. This Sunday game is payback against URI and a chance to get back to 500. Let make it three in the row baby.

La Salle moved up to 213 on Kenpom from 241 prior to tip. Bart Torvik’s Game Score says it was the best game La Salle played this year. Back to back top 100 wins is really nice.

other than a handful of possessions in the first half where they overdribbled and had to throw up desperation shots with the shot clock running out, the team was really efficient. and the big difference on defense is the help defense. they let venning isolate a few too many times but they really did a nice job doubling him for much of the night and if their guards got into the lane, the help defense was consistently in position. hopefully they can keep that up. one impressive stat i just saw is that la salle led for just under 38 minutes while st bona only led for 44 seconds. that is crazy.
one guy whose box score doesn't tell the story is ryan zan. during the 10 minutes he was in, he did an outstanding job on venning.
really nice win and a true team effort. nice to see shep get his confidence back and tunde getting better every game. he really defends and battles on the boards.
i love beating st bona.

Just back from the game. It was fun to watch as the Explorers led almost wire to wire. Venning was a beast down low and was unstoppable until they started to double him. That took him out of his game to an extent. Rokas did what he could against him and Zan played great defense on a much bigger player. Shepherd had his 4th straight good game. As one of my buddies at the game mentioned, he's played well ever since he was substituted out of the starting lineup that one game.
Overall, this was a team effort win by a very short handed team.
I don't know when or if the dogs ran out. I had 2 myself as my heartburn can attest. They weren't too old tonight.

Man...we need to get more students out. Maybe 2 wins in a row will bring them Sunday. Agree on Zan. I was worried Venning would have his way with us but Bonnies were very sloppy and careless with the ball. Jut wasn't their night and we capitalized. This makes the St. Louis loss and the 2 point Rhode Island loss even more infuriating. We'd be sitting in 10th holding some tiebreakers with a couple of games left against weaker opponents to potentially avoid the PIG. |

Thought Venning was going to eat us alive, but he doesn’t know how to handle a double team and walks repeatedly! I don't think I've ever seen a player walk as much as he did last night. The guy is talented, but boy was he strolling all over the joint with the ball. It was unbelievable. You're right about the double team though. It really took him out of his game. |

And letting up alot of points. URI cannot be happy with the results so far finishing up year 2 of a 5 year contract. |
