This is a 2007-08 type season, without the top end upside. Very weird feeling.

Shooters have hot cycles and slumps. If Andres can shoot over 36% in A10 play that is great. He was white hot against lesser competition. The issue is whether he can deliver against A10 teams on a consistent basis, like at 36%

When we have no inside game, it is harder for the shooters to shoot at a high percentage. There is enough tape our there now for teams to know who we are. ..and we aren't a team that wins in the paint in the A10.

I think in Marrero’s case it’s his inability to hunt and work for his own shots as Fran has alluded to before.

I think in Marrero’s case it’s his inability to hunt and work for his own shots as Fran has alluded to before. It's a little of this and a little of what Glitter said. Andres can't create his own shot off of the dribble and teams now know they don't have to worry about the middle too much on offense so they can go out and smother the shooters that can't really create their own shot.

Brickus and Brantley need to penetrate the basketball when Marrero is in the game which will give him space to shoot.
Overall I think they do this well enough and Marrero does get decent enough shots. I did not see the game last night so I can’t speak to that.
He is fine in the role we have him in but he is limited as everyone has said.
What I like least about Andres is his defense is poor.

He is fine in the role we have him in but he is limited as everyone has said. What I like least about Andres is his defense is poor. andres was 1 for his first 7, making his first shot with around ten minutes left in the game which got la salle within 4 pts. he then missed two critical threes during the next two minutes while umass started to get some separation. i thought he mostly got good looks but they just didn't go down. he made two threes in the last couple of minutes after the game was out of reach. the other problems last night were khalil not playing well and rokas getting abused by cohen and hankins-sanford on the low block, combining for 34 points and 23 rebounds with nine of them being offensive boards. rokas looked okay on the offensive end, held onto the ball and finished for the most part, but both those guys just sealed him off and got dunks and layups while he stood there flat-footed. i wish dunph would just throw milos (who was back on the bench last night and at the fordham game) out there for a few minutes even if it was only to hammer the opposing bigs and send them to the line.
