I think Zan proved his A-10 worth tonight. Everyone who doubted can pound zand. Umm no. 1 game doesn’t prove anything other than he’s earned another opportunity for a handful of minutes next game.

I feel like our lack of depth was exposed tonight. We played incredibly hard in the first half and despite playing a near perfect half we're only up 6. In the 2nd half we were showing fatigue and GMU used it's size and athleticism to wear us down. We just don't have enough depth especially at guard where the killer B's have to play almost 40 minutes and can't take any time off on the court since they have to be integral parts of every possession. If Brickus stays and Jones is the player we hope he is next year should be better at guard but we really need a couple of athletic 6'6" wings. Not sure who we are recruiting but hopefully help will be on the way.

Killed in the paint tonight being outscored 34-14, and losing the rebound battle 41-23.
Once they figured out how to go down low on us, we were cooked. 3s falling in the first half kept us in it, but we got outmuscled down low far too often to be effective. I'm not sure our key guys have the strength to play 35+ minutes a game and be asked to hit consistently from outside.

Observations, Jocius is obviously battling an injury but played aggressively Guards played well but tired in second half since they had to carry entire offense Forwards were poor tonight, worse game Shepherd played this year and gill wasn't much better, takes way too many bad shots Mason is decent but I did like our intensity tonight outside of Shepherd . More upset with Howard loss than this one.

Brickus does stay… Jones was a good get, and I am excited to have him, but he isn’t replacing Brickus, Year 1. The drop off in offensive capabilities is just a very sudden among the backcourt and roster in general.

This game against GMU is the difference of two half of basketball. In the first half we came out with energy and shooting the light in the first half. Zan (10 pts) and Brickus (19 pts) was hot in the first half of the game. The second half was a different story. GMU started clamping on us on defense. We just scored 19 points total in the second half. GMU was scoring at will against us and we didn’t have the answers for Keyshawn Hall (27 pts and 13 rebounds) in the game. The only bright spot in the game that Brickus became Lasalle 1,000 points scorer. Congratulations to Jhamir Brickus scoring his 1,000 points. This Saturday we have Fordham on our first A10 road game and we need a win bad, Let get our first A10 victory of the new year baby.

Wow. Fordham scored 119 against Bonnie’s and won in triple overtime. 119-113. Maybe Fordham will be exhausted from the game and we can sneak by them on Saturday.

A friend of mine who doesn't follow college basketball that closely mentioned to me over the break that he noticed La Salle was doing well this season and he wondered if the program had turned the corner (this was before the Howard game).
I told him I felt a bit like we were the Eagles - won a few games by the skin of our teeth (Loyola, Southern Indiana, Penn), and that we had some fundamental issues that teams could exploit - basically our record wasn't a reflection of the team's actual abilities and we had a few lucky bounces propping up the W column.

I thought the same thing, but then remembered we came out after a triple OT game and put up 93 in another OT game a few days later.

Apologies…meant to say Fordham beat GW in 3 OT’s. No matter, how, who, what, when and where, let’s get that on the road A game from the Explos….

This game wasn’t lost simply to a lack of talent. It was also lost due to poor officiating and poor coaching. The starting 5 built a lead and controlled the first half. The lineup which began the second half was being dominated and Dunphy seemed content to stand by while Mason took and built upon their lead. He was slow to make adjustments. I don’t know if the end result would have changed but I don’t believe he gave La Salle the best chance to win. Also, George Mason’s bench and coaches are obnoxious and highly unlikable.

I sort of agree with you on Dunphy being slow to make adjustments, but I've also come to realize that his style is to try and let the players work things out on the court instead of calling a quick time out and making an adjustment. Right or wrong, that's what he does. He's giving more autonomy to the players to figure it out. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. I 100% agree with you about the bench and the coaches. Absolutely no class and obnoxious. Win with grace and dignity, don't be an asshole about it. The bench was over the top obnoxious; and Tony Skinn was channeling his inner Danny Hurley. He whined about EVERYTHING.

Can't make adjustments when there are no adjustments to make though. The roster is so limited.

He whined about EVERYTHING. i pretty much agree with everything here. dunph has let the team figure things out on their own for much of the season, but in this case, i wish he would have called a timeout after mason cut our lead to four instead of waiting for the media timeout. the team was totally out of sync and either threw up bad shots early in the shot clock or turned it over during that 5 minute span. they needed to be calmed down. they hadn't looked like that all season. not saying it would have changed the outcome but i think it would have given la salle a chance to keep it closer for longer. skinn was on the refs from the opening tap. he had nothing to complain about. mason was only called for 4 fouls in the first half, with two of them being intentional in the last 10 seconds to prevent la salle from getting a shot off. they got away with murder. dunph got on the refs multiple times in the first half which is rare for him. and then mason wasn't called for their first foul in the second half until there was just under 12 minutes left in the game, which was ridiculous because they played extremely physical in the second half. la salle never even got into the bonus until there was 3 1/2 minutes left when the game was basically out of reach. all that being said, i remember sitting there at halftime thinking it's going to be hard to win. the guys played very well but were only up 6, and they really didn't have an answer for hall and kelly. shep and anwar tried their hardest to contain hall but that kid is a stud. i think that affected their play on the offensive side as they were exerting a ton of energy trying to keep him from going off. let's beat fordham.

We had a shot to bury them, i think up 10 with under 4 to go in the firet half.Plus/minus of the frontcourt shows a lot imo. Gotta beat fordham.
