An important win for us they stunk and we beat them Convincingly . Gotta to be able to do that Looking forward to hearing from people who went to the game cause our guys looked quite upset with the officiating. Some pretty unusual technical fouls for us.

Can’t say enough about the effort and hustle these guys bring every night. It wasn’t the prettiest win, but man do these guys leave it all on the floor. Proud of the guys!

The intensity these guys play with is unreal. Night and day vs. when we had ash on the sidelines. Ryan Zan is underrated, but he just flies after the ball with every chance he gets. Always getting a hand on it. You can tell his teammates appreciate that. That’s why Brantley got the tech. This rotation isn’t huge, but I love the 8 Fran has rolled with. Surprised no mercandino yet, but that’s ok. Marrero looks like nickelberry when nickelberry was on. Officiating really screwed Rokus, but overall these guys play hard and bigger than they are. Shep obviously jumps through the rough. But Zan is tough. And you can tell Tunde has been playing against men. He looks like a third year senior. The intensity, basketball IQ and watchability is head and shoulders above where it was 2 years ago. Under 5 minutes we weren’t taking boneheaded shot and dumb plays- everything was controlled and good shots under 10 on the shot clock.
I’ll never understand how Shepard can jump so high. It’s unbelievable.

Is there an official height on Shepherd's vertical leap? Wouldn't be surprised if it's 40 inches.

Back from the game. The biggest takeaway is the the refs absolutely SUCKED. I can't emphasize that enough. 50 fouls were called in this game. 50! The amount of phantom fouls, ticky tac fouls and flat out absurd foul calls were legion. The one foul called on Brantley at mid-court when he and a Bucknell player were scrambling for a loose ball could have been called the other way, but the absurd part was when they went to the monitor to see if a flagrant foul should have been called on Brantley. There was nothing in that play that came even close to a flagrant foul. These refs were flat out a joke. The older, gray haired guy was just horrid. I think we need Explorer Steve to initiate an investigation and then march on the A10 HQ and demand answers, damn it!

As others have said, what this team is missing are shooters. Good, pure shooters. We don't really have one on the team and it's going to bite them in the butt often this season. With that being said, this team is gritty and plays hard. Thanks god Ash is gone.

I liked and was surprised with not only the up-tempo play by La Salle, but the fact that they did fairly well with it.
57% on free throws is lousy. I was hoping that wouldn't be an issue again this year.
It's obvious that they haven't quite got their individual games rust-free yet, but there were a few signs that were encouraging.
Southern Indiana will be an interesting game to watch.

Great grind out win tonight against Bucknell. We started off playing sloppy and slow in the first half, but the second half was a lot better. The Big 3 (Brickus, Gill, and Brantley) and Jocius had an off night. Marrero ( 12 points 4\8 from 3) and Zan (4 points and 3 rebounds) gave us a major boost in the first half of the game. The second half was a different team that played Coach Fran basketball to get our third win of the season. My arm chair coach player of the game is Deshon Shepherd (22 points 9 rebounds and 5 dunks). This was his coming out game. He played excellent on both sides of the court. Saturday, Southern Indiana coming to the Gola and let get this victory baby.

Solid win. I feel I know the refs are bad when I’m annoyed when Buckell gets called. Unnecessarily asserted themselves and prolonged the game. This crew stinks and I hope this is not a regular A-10 group.
Brickus and Shepherd continue to impress. Zan with some solid minutes.
Also, love the introduction of 1970s technology instant replay. Richie admitted to not being used to it.

Not sure if it would have made a difference but we won by 12 having given away 4 points on technicals. Would have won by 16. Our rpi on Pomeroy went from about 189 to 198.

I think our void is really just not having a solid big man to compliment Jocius. As we saw last night when he gets in foul trouble, we are in trouble in the paint.

I almost put a hole in my TV after the last technical. I live bet the bills the other night to win outright once they were down at +150. When denver's kicker missed the 1st FG attempt, I finally thought one losing bet turned in my favor. Then the flag came out for 12 men on the field. The technicals last night would've been akin to that.

Jocius' foul trouble really did not hurt us last night. Zan, Fasasi and Shepard did a good job keeping Williamson in check as his biggest contribution was getting his face in the way of Jocius' elbows. We ended the night outrebounding them.

I agree Zan plays hard and is a good kid to have in the program and spot minutes.
However, he lacks athleticism and really can’t be used in a lot of games. He was exposed again against a mediocre Northeastern team with average athleticism. He can be a contributor against the Bucknell’s of the world.
This isn’t a shot at him. Just the reality of the situation. If he can improve his shooting skills that could earn him more minutes but he has a way to go there. His outside shot looks heavy right now. He plays hard and sets a good example. Dunphy will need to manage that against teams that will give Zan problems with their athleticism. Hopefully Tunde will develop quickly to fill that gap.

Marreo is a decent shooter, but I wouldn't call him a pure shooter. A pure shooter to me is someone like Darnell Harris. He's not close to that level. At least not yet. He also appears to have trouble creating his own shot and is more of a standstill shooter. Harris could create his own shot. Hopefully he develops, but we need someone that is a consistent, reliable, pure shooter.

Harris would have no doubt gotten a power 5 offer in the era of free transfers.

It’s unbelievable. Agree with everything here. What I'm even more impressed with is how EVERYONE on the floor knows exactly where to be. Both on the offensive and defensive end. Even Zan...spelling Rocius, still gives this team a presence in the middle even though he's a bit undersized. Fights for every rebound, and plays a tough D against bigger opponents. Also...the team does not appear to panic. You saw this in the A10 tournament...they get down, but they have this continual fight and air of confidence about them. Fun to watch.

I must say I am somewhat surprised at the apparent lack of concern on this Board about Rokas Jocius's apparent propensity to get into foul trouble. He amassed 5 fouls in 11 minutes of PT last night. I assume it is because he is still accustomed - to the more physical European game and 'let 'em play' World Cup men's basketball type of officiating. However, his many positive attributes do us no good when he ends up spending half of each game ( or more ) as a spectator.

Then he was absolutely only vertical and they called another one. Overall, officiating was horrific. This game should be considered an outlier. He only had 2 fouls against Drexel guarding the pre season caa player of the year.
