I’ve worked at schools. I’ve been to plenty of college nights. I’ve worked private and publics. Never seen a guidance department order colleges by tier. That’s BS. Had I seen that guidance would have had to deal with me - even if La Salle was tier 1. Who is a guidance counselor to rank a school? A school should be picked based on needs. If you want to be a lawyer the Ivy is a better choice in all likelihood but if you want nursing La Salle is a far better choice From their website in the college counseling section www.lschs.org/academics/college-counseling/overviewOur graduates enroll in some of the most prestigious colleges and universities around the world. This is just a small sample of where La Salle graduates continued their educational path. Then they proceed to scroll through the following schools: Penn, University of Chicago, Virginia, Texas, Michigan, Penn State, Lehigh, Stanford, Princeton, NYU, Northwestern, Naval Academy, Georgia Tech, Villanova, and Morehouse College (I guess to get diversity points in their marketing). No mention of La Salle University. Not even a single Christian Brothers school listed, and only one Catholic school. Looking at their college reps visits calendar, no one from La Salle University is even scheduled to be there yet in September or October (other A10 schools are there): www.lschs.org/academics/college-counseling/calendar?cal_date=2022-09-01Their senior parents college night is September 7th. Maybe someone can give us a tiering report. tom gola and john glaser would be rolling over in their graves if they knew lchs was doing this.

John may have withheld his donation to LSCHS if he was aware of this.

You guys are so funny. The student demographics of the two schools are so widely different at this point. Would be nice if someone showed up to College Night from the university but to just say "WELL IT USED TO BE THIS WAY" is ignoring the 30+ years of changes at the high school.

A few years ago my wife and I attended the ordination of a Christian Brother who became a priest. He had previously served in administration at LSCHS. We wound up sitting at a table with Christian Brothers from LSCHS. They knew we were both La Salle University/College graduates. It came as a bit of a shock to us when the LSCHS people were snobbish and looked down on us. LSCHS might be a fine institution but some of its administration or faculty are far from it.

Lost the mission? Isn't that true because they're much more selective than we? What advantage do they see in our offerings if they're already guaranteed admission without an additional effort? We sense that the clientele they serve is still only interested in being sold the most expensive school they can qualify for academically. If they enrolled in what they considered their safety school rather than a top tier nationally prestigious university, they'd no doubt be concerned about what the $105,000+ investment for high school programs was for. A small portion of these students may parlay the high school tuition into a scholarship, but many are seeking accreditation from the biggest / richest school that will accept them.

Holy f*$%!!! Fans, a goal, a celebration!!!! Brilliant putting those bleachers in Great idea. Is the womens team supposed to be good this year? Probably looking at hykos for the answer. It was fun following their NCAA run years back and another one would go a long way to bringing that student support momentum into basketball season. I appreciate the dialogue. Do not have a full sense yet. Gshrey and McGroarty are fast undersized forwards who have developed as good finishers. They're getting real good results from the defense, outscoring opponents 7-1 thru 3 games but they haven't played anyone above them yet. Will know better after the #3 Rutgers away game in a few weeks and the ranked St Louis, home game shortly after that.

At least we kept our mission, said the man in front of the locked gate.

Joe, are you saying that the University hasn't kept its prestige, and the high school has passed it by? Are you saying that Colleen ran the school into the ground? 15 years ago, when we were at 20th and Olney, there were plenty of LSCHS kids. What has changed? I know we don't have a baseball or football team anymore, beyond that, I don't know.

La Salle high school changed, not the university. Got paired on the golf course today with a kid that graduated the high school two years before me. We both agreed that if we were doing high school today, neither one of us would have even been able to consider it. My point is that’s ok. But to say that the high school lost their ‘mission’ when they are thriving financially and with prestige…especially when the university is not…is crazy. At least to me.

Holy f*$%!!! Fans, a goal, a celebration!!!! Brilliant putting those bleachers in As a current student here at the University, this bleacher felt like a step in the right direction towards building up student involvement in the gameday atmosphere at La Salle. I am already someone who would go to all of our home games, but to convince some of my fellow classmates to show out to watch a game that might not generally affect them directly was a chore. Stuff like this row of bleachers helps the less interested fans get more involved and feel like they want to attend the games to cheer for their school.

In my opinion, the only way to get students coming to the game is by winning. We had the same problem when I was attending Lasalle (class of 2020). That the only way to bring students back to the game. It also can bring big donations to the athletic department. With Coach Fran on board, students will be attending game. #GoExplorer.

John may have withheld his donation to LSCHS if he was aware of this. For those who have seen both schools' merits and issues up close, I think there is a sense of loyalty to both and an appreciation of the good (and the less than good) in each school. Glaser was highly supportive of both schools but clearly could see the U's tendency to not always get things right. Let's face it, that is a reality and you take it for what it's worth. Given the U's tendency to eff things up, he put a string on a gift that should have been met by year three in most institutions. Yes, we are about to run the game clock out on that gift. Glaser was a smart guy. I don't think he'd be rolling over in his grave. More like LHFAO.

I agree that the best way to get students to attend games is to have a winning product. It's not like we're a P5 conference school where drawing thousands is a lock no matter what your record is or who you're playing. Granted, back in the early 90s we had a good squad that played to very small home crowds. We also played at an arena that was a half hour's drive away. Given the fervent following of the 2012-13 teams, coupled with the fact that they now play on campus with (hopefully) a new arena on the horizon, a competitive, winning team that fans can identify with should bring out crowds.
