Go back and watch the whistle blowing incident again, which cost La Salle a point in a one point win. What kind of call was that anyway? It was NOT an intentional fake. He did not go over the ten second limit. The ball did NOT ever leave Rodney Green's hands. Is it really up to the ref's discretion to take the possession away like that? If so, the refs used poor judgment. There were no La Salle players in the lane. We didn't even line up to rebound/foul SJ at all, we were already under the SJ basket playing defense. I am not a ref basher, I just want to understand what the precedent or justification was. The SJU box score is fishy too. It says Deadball Rebound, Turnover Rodney Green. Really? It seems even the home team was confused by the refs lack of good judgment. Don't know what else to call it. www.sjuhawks.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2007-2008/game24.htmlSaw a similar play occur in the NBA. The NBA refs allowed a do over, just because it wasn't any sort of blatant violation. These refs should have given Rodney Green, too, the same benefit of the doubt. Also, Tasheed Carr's technical in the first half had gifted La Salle 2 pts, which proved to be a huge difference maker in the final result, cutting into their 11 pt lead and giving La Salle some much needed momentum. La Salle made every shot it could in that game and still only won by one, so thanks to Tasheed Carr for giving La Salle those two necessary free throws!

Maybe my favorite night of college, just an awesome feeling storming the famous Palestra court

I am trying to think back to some memorable La Salle – SJU (PA) games at the Palestra. Obviously, the whistle game mentiond above which broke up a 10 year drought against them.
I think Speedy had a double overtime win 98-95 against Hawks back in 1999 or 2000?
I also remember a rivalry week game on ESPN at the Palestra during Hawks “perfect season” in which La Salle was routed and I think Hahn was quoted as saying Hawks ran up the score? Mind is fuzzy with that game.

we did play the hawks at the Palestra during the perfect* season. Explos jumped out on them early on a beautiful Alley-oop from beyond half court to Steve Smith. After that, the hawks went on one of their trademark runs from that season where all of a sudden they rattled off 14 or 15 straight in what felt like about 3 minutes.
