I think that is the nature of the online resales market. it is extremely beneficial to the seller, if a game is sold out, but only somewhat beneficial to the buyer, if there are seats available from the box office. The seller doesn't have to pay a fee if it doesn't sell he can just pull it and scalp it through another method. Their hope is that by setting the bar high and then lowering it a cinch at a time, a desperate fish will eventually bite.

Just that there are desperate fish is pretty incredible. And there are -- I've had an e-mail or two asking me for advice on getting tickets the past two days.

I know you old timers like to wear your sweaters, turtle necks, or button ups, but can you at least make it gold/yellow for the St. Joe's game?
I, myself will be wearing a dress shirt, but it will be yellow. (We also got some other crazy stuff in store)
It'll be on National TV folks. We gotta represent.

It's nice that 3 of our last 6 games are on TV. I'll be at the game Saturday, but will DVR it as well.

That La Salle waiting list came through for me last night! I'm glad I was on the list. Now, I am going to get to see the game. I had joined the list last Monday morning, as soon as I heard the game was sold out.
Any advice on long term parking near the campus? I want to spend the afternoon down there, maybe grab lunch, trying not to spend $28 on garage parking or have to feed the meter 3 different times.

For what it's worth, I guy I know who does all kinds of weather forecasting said the model changed and he's expecting significant snow for the Philly area, starting early Saturday. He said the mainstream weather people will catch up to this by tonight.
He's usually right, but this is one situation where I hope he's way off.

The weather guy is way off. Scientifically speaking, as long as I have a working snow blower, we will not see more then a couple inches of snow accumulate on the sidewalk/driveway.
Hopefully no more real close games until we face Saint Louis.

Parking at the Sheraton is a pretty good deal I believe. I've been there a couple times, it's a bit of a walk but if you're going to head back that way later it could be worth your while.

You could take the regional line to 30th street and walk. You could also take the El from Market and Broad for like 2 bucks, parking in center city is much more convenient. There is a lot by GSK and Hannamen around 15th and Cherry when you get off the broad st exit on the vine street expressway that charges 5 bucks for 24 hours on the weekend. You can hop on the regional line from there and go to 30th street and walk to the palestra. Sounds alot harder then it is.

You can also park further out in West Philly. The area around Baltimore Ave. is pretty quirky and nice and has really loose parking regulations on the side streets. There's a Baltimore Ave. trolley (I forget what number) that stops right by the Palestra.
That might be what I do for the game, actually.

I invited 5 of my alumni friends and told my kids I was taking them with us only to be informed by my wife that she would be away with my youngest all weekend at a hockey tournament in Pittsburgh. I said ok so i will take my other 2 sons. Again told no because i had to take one to a wrestling tournament on Sat and the other to a Boy Scouts event. So the moral is to check with your wife before you invite people to meet you at the palestra for a Big 5 game. I went from being there to recording it on my DVR. Also I hope Lasalle gets up for this game. Martelli always has St Joes ready for Big 5 games. We have enough Philly kids to know how important this game is. Go Explorers!!!!!

where do you park at the palestra? Everyone agrees that parking near the Palestra can be limited and expensive, so here is some helpful info. NJ people can park at any PATCO station for either free in the free lots, or $1 in the paid lots before 10 AM, pay $7.10 (Ferry Ave) to $7.80 (Collingswood-Haddon) to $8.60 (Woodcrest) each for a round trip including the round trip SEPTA transfer option, get off at 8th and Market, transfer over to the westbound Market Line to either 30th or 34th street (4 to 5 stops in the westbound direction, takes under 10 minutes), and then walk down 33rd street no more than three blocks to the Palestra. On Saturdays, both the PATCO and the Market line are running every 15 minutes or less. Both PATCO and SEPTA lines are cash only for paper tickets, but you can buy a reloadable prepaid card with credit card with minimum $20 value on it, then use it to buy SEPTA roundtrip transfers in any NJ station. PA people can park at regional rail stations for free on weekends. Most regional rail trains are about $9 weekend round trip cash on board fare, to a maximum of $11 if coming from further out. Get off at 30th street station (accessible from all regional rail routes) and walk 5.5 blocks (14 minutes) or get off at University City station and walk two and a half blocks (7 minutes) if traveling from Jenkintown or from just about ANY other stops along the R1 Airport, R2 Warminster, R2 Wilmington, R3 West Trenton, R3 Media, or R6 Norristown-only lines. If going to 30th street, conveniently enough, Slainte Pub, directly across the street from the train and on the way to the Palestra, is hosting an official pregame reception with $10 all you can eat lunch, and "wear gold" drink specials from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.

My wife hates college basketball and did not go to La Salle. However, she's going to this game.
I told her about the pre-game festivities. The morning drinking s-show potential is what really sold her. I'm not sure how it is for you guys but people from my era (Class of '99) put them down and my friends still do.
I wanted to make a T-Shirt when I was an undergrad. "La Salle: We have more fun in one weekend than you will in four years." That probably doesn't fit but you get the gist.

My classmates can still put them down like none other. If this was a Saturday night game I would have serious concerns. Probably the best thing to happen was this game being a 1:00 tip.
If La Salle can pull out the win, the New Deck might run out of alcohol after the game.

New Deck is a decidedly hawk hangout. It could be hard to grab a table in there tomorrow at about 4:00.

I legitimately have butterflies in my stomach right now. I haven't felt like this about a sporting event since Game 5 in 2008.
