La Salle or Fordham? This snag is better than anyone Ash has gotten in 3 years out of high school. Can Fordham keep him?
Four-star guard Will Richardson, of Bergen Catholic/PSA Cardinals, has committed to Fordham University. Jio Fontan 2008 was their last 4Star Recruit. Big get.

La Salle or Fordham? This snag is better than anyone Ash has gotten in 3 years out of high school. Can Fordham keep him? Per recruiting sites he had offers from Vanderbilt, Marquette, Maryland, Penn State, Seton Hall, St. John's, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M, Wichita State and Xavier. Let's say he just wanted to stay home...he'd choose Seton Hall or John's. So in my opinion it's one of three things: - He was promised that he'd be the focal point and he's planning on being 1 and done to the 2nd round in the NBA draft
- There is some kind of big red flag that scared the other schools away (these sites don't cover pulled offers)
- Shenanigans afoot with the new Fordham staff

Some kids are just different. And it’s local, maybe he wanted to blaze his own path (and SJU’s Mike Anderson has had some controversy lately). What do you think people said about Rasual Butler choosing La Salle when Kentucky (they got Tayshaun Prince instead) and Maryland had offered? Do you really think him being Donnie’s best friend made that big of a difference? Who knows.
And with NIL and being the focal point that might have helped Fordham even more

This probably begs the larger question of why do we think Fordham can't/shouldn't be better than us in three years, with or without this kid.

Based on their recent past track record, I would say no. I also believe Ash has more overall talent on the team and that bodes well for us. Coaching is the real question for La Salle right now. Can he run a good, balanced offense with strong D to boot? Right now, that's an open question. I'm hopeful. Recruiting one 4 star recruit doesn't mean Fordham will be better. There's no saying how that will play out. Exhibit A: Aaric Murray.

This probably begs the larger question of why do we think Fordham can't/shouldn't be better than us in three years, with or without this kid. Exactly, Neptune could be the guy that turns things around for them. I'm happy for Fordham, Neptune is clearly making a big push seeing the transfers he landed and now, Will Richardson. It's a great add for them but Fordham has been able to land really good recruits in the past. No one necessarily as highly ranked as Will Richardson but Nick Honor and Eric Paschall come to mind. One of Fordham's biggest issue has been holding on to their players. It's plagued them for quite some time. I also don't think Ash's recruiting is the problem just yet. I have concerns regarding if he can develop these guys. As I mentioned before, this year is going to be a key indicator if that's happening. In addition, this upcoming year may change some perspectives on his HS recruiting. Recently, Josh Verlin was at practice and had some really positive things to say. I don't want to say exactly what those were because it's premium content but it's pretty consistent to not just things I've heard from others but people on this board as well.

Fordham's roster is almost completely new this year, mostly JUCO and Penn State transfers. It is obvious that they have a hard time recruiting and retaining HS players. As dim as La Salle's prospects may be I would have to give the nod to the Explorers over the Rams. In addition, I believe that Kenney was a 4 star coming out of HS with Big 10 and BE offers. Hard to project success from ratings and offers.

It's all relative re stars and eventual output. It's a helpful indicator v HS seniors this year but not for the next 4/5 years
Based on the OP question we should be better. In fact, we had three 4 stars in the lineup - Moore (Rivals) | Beatty (Multiple) | Kenney (ESPN). Were we great with 3 four stars playing - nah. Had some before with Pookie and Price and they played several sub .500 years.
You need to layer these high star guys over multiple years to have a real impact. SLU and Dayton have done that and played upper echelon ball as a result. URI also has but have had issues with long-term retention and never really go to "next level" recently
