Damn, I renewed my season tix and didn't get anything (yet). Maybe Delaware folks aren't eligible.... payback for when they stated carding at Total Wine when PA closed the liquor stores during the pandemic. Delaware was originally the Lower 3 Counties of Pennsylvania. (Some Delaware historians believe that Pennsylvania was actually the upper 67 counties of Delaware.) We set you free on June 15, 1776. That is what we Delawareans call Separation Day. www.history.com/this-day-in-history/delaware-declares-independencePayback? Many believe that the PA payback for Delaware leaving came when the Biden family moved from Scranton, PA to Delaware in 1953.

There is palpable buzz on campus about Nickelberry's transfer in and it made me optimistic again to hear that.
New season tickets went on sale yesterday. There appear to be no fewer than three double headers with the women's team, in the non-conf. schedule and so I ordered their add-on which was just $60 each for the season. I asked about the Hideaway making a return, and I was told the administration wants to have it. More optimism all around.

I can see where someone who doesn't appreciate Norm MacDonald might want to spell that part out. Yes.

The two sections posted don't exactly give me strong vibes. "I think those guys will be better"? I would hope they're better. They're in year 3 and 4.

I'm paraphrasing here but....
In the article, Ash feels a lot better now than last year as they just struggled to get in practice with all the protocols in place last season. Felt like they didn't even have a real offseason
Competition has been tough with the new faces brought in, referenced Brantley giving Brickus some good competition.
Consistency is the #1 concern, too many games where they play really hard and then give up on others. Mentioned that he believes Sheriff and Clark have the potential to be all A10 players. Felt when they lost focus at times and they stop rebounding and playing tough on D.
Some of the younger guys now the 3rd year into their careers are emerging as leaders. Thinks they have a really good mix and feels the energy is the best since he's been there.

I sure hope he's right but I'll believe it when I see it. I'd feel better if there was a stronger offensive scheme underlying the program. It's good to emphasize defense like he does but you have to score and not lapse into repeated scoring slumps. That's where our biggest inconsistency has been IMO.

Also have to get to the line more. I take the Ash interview with a grain of salt....what do you expect him to say? I'm having flashbacks to G's comments on Miles Brookins - Doesn't play like a freshman - or something to that effect.
Everyone knows what needs to be done. The question is...can he get them to do it...consistently?

Yeah, nothing special about the article. The Athletic big 5 coverage stinks. Should have gone with someone local to work the beat.

Yeah a born and bred Philadelphia reporter would pick up the pheaune and get the sceuoop on what Howard really thinks about his roster.
(I think Holmes’ coverage is great and maybe you should count the D1 teams that get dedicated articles on The Athletic versus those who don’t.)

Depends. If you’re wearing a Runyon or Detmer jersey (because you just got home from a fancy night out), absolutely.

But hey he is the self proclaimed Baptiste himself so there would be poetic justice here.

I havent read the article, just what y'all have posted or said about it, but someone tell me if I am wrong here.
The biggest issue we had last year wasnt personnel. As an A10 team, you can win some games with lesser talent, and you can play tough against the top teams with lesser talent. What concerns me is the lack of offensive structure, the laziness, the selfish play, the bad shots. Sure, having some better players can help you win maybe 1 or 2 more games. But if there was a better culture/work ethic/morale, we probably would have won 7 or so more games and definitely wouldn't have lost by 30 three times to GMU. The issue was we never had discipline or leadership. Beatty and Spencer were a cause of this sometimes (Beatty was VERY up and down with his energy and effort) but Kenney looked very disinterested in anything more than filling up his box score most of the time. So the talent doesn't concern me so much as the effort and attitude of the team. And I have a feeling it takes an introspective look to assess that, and I'm not sure Ash did that or will do that.

15 I am on board with the offensive structure comment - see my earlier post. But I am not sure I fully agree on the rest
IMO the team had issues with cohesion and the quest for primary playing time. That played out too long with time conflicts between Beatty, Scott, Ayinde and Jared versus the new guys, with Clark as a tweener getting decent PT. I don’t blame Ash for waiting too long as all got an extra Covid year but over time it was obvious that the old guys weren’t performing like vets other than an occasional burst and the new guys needed more PT
Ash did flip the switch ultimately and relied primarily on our new core. At times they were encouraging and other times they showed inexperience. The Joe’s late loss could have gotten them over the hump had they not lost but they blew the game and regressed
With the size of the roster, similar issues could evolve this year but it’s possible the core gelled over the summer and upped their game. I hope so. I also hope ash figures out right away which new guys deserve good PT and gives it to them.
Fingers crossed

I disagree that it wasn't a talent issue. Our best player last year was _______ who would rank #__ overall in the A-10.

I disagree that it wasn't a talent issue. Our best player last year was _______ who would rank #__ overall in the A-10. Last year I would say that our best player was Brickus. The problem with our roster is only a handful of players would receive meaningful minutes on the top tier A-10 teams. Brickus, Clark, and Kenney, that is where I would draw the line. (Once again based on last year.) That being said, I am excited about our team this year. Moore has the physical attributes to be an all league defender and if he worked on his shot this year, we will be able to spread the floor with a 5 out offense, similar to what Nova did that year with Spellman. Hopefully, he was able to get stronger in the off-season. Nickelberry will have the opportunity to have a fresh start, he is clearly talented being on the 2nd leading scorer in North Carolina high school history. I hope that he will be the latest impact transfer, since we have not had one since BJ Johnson. Shepard and Brantley will have the opportunity to get rotational minutes. Shepard is from what I have ready is the best athlete that we have had since Ash has taken over the reins. I am hoping the Brantley brings that NY swagger to the team, just go out and get buckets for the team. I really would like to see Anwar take that next step this year and compete for 20+ min a game. Possible sleepers on the team include: Matt McFarlane (if he gets cleared) and Andres Marreo. I think we have a starting line up of: Brickus Nickleberry Clark Ray or Kenney Moore Then our bench rotation will consist of Ray or Kenney, Brantley, Gill, and Sheppard

I agree it should evolve to this
Brickus Nickleberry Clark Kenney Moore
But I think it will start out like this
Brickus Kenney Ray Clark Moore
Beyond this core six, I am hoping the following can add high value Brantley, Sheppard, Marreo, Mc Farlane and Gill in that order.
