I know all videos are designed to show a player at their best, but Brantley looks like he could be the real deal. He seems like a real spark plug for a team.
I'd be interested in finding out why the scouting services rated him as a 2 or 3-star player.
As of now, I'd say Ash deserves A LOT of credit for landing this player. He's muscular, quick and looks like he can really take charge on the court.

This goes well beyond Brantley's talent today. So many factors will decide the player he is for La Salle. Ash's development of him, the system he is asked to play, Brantley's desire and work ethic etc.... all are important here.
To me I ask will he play defense? Because when we played defense we were a far better team. If Ash doesn't get these players to play defense we are all going to be disappointed.

I agree that teams that play defense are better that teams that don’t.

That a terrific signing by Coach Ash. Watch out A10 Brickus and Brantley might be the top backcourt in the conference. As long Khalil Brantley don’t transfer after his first year. Go Explorers

Go Explorers I think you are touching upon the new reality that besets college basketball at this time here. I think we finish most likely on the losing end here. We may someday see some star players here at La Salle but it could be very short lived. This has not been a pleasant reality for me to entertain. I actually had a dream several months back where in the dream I was commiserating, angrily lamenting with several other La Salle fans (who are actually now deceased) in the dream there was a news flash that Lionel Simmons was transferring from La Salle leaving to go to Villanova when entering his Junior yr. Not a pleasant reality, ugly to me, it looks like with the new transfer rules a star or budding star at La Salle if it ever happens again will likely twinkle here only briefly, 1 year, if we are lucky 2 years here, before they move on. Hope I am wrong.

So there used to be two ways to build a team: cohesion or talent. And when a mid-major somehow finds both of them (La Salle circa 2011-2013), great things can happen. The door is slowly closing on the cohesion route though, partly because of the transfer rules...yes, but also because amateur basketball is different now than it was 15 years ago. Gone are the days where the princeton offense can be successful because a) the kids are too athletic and b) they're not going to give up the dribbling for the methodical back door cuts. There are outliers to this, but they're dying off. So I think Ash is going to go the talent route and hope that the cohesion forms. And maybe it will. Ramon Galloway and Tyreek Duren were generational leaders on that La Salle team. Maybe that could be Brantley or Brickus or someone else. Until then, stack as many good basketball players as you can.

@joefedorowicz completely agree regarding the princeton offense. It's exactly why I think Richmond just can't get over that hurdle despite having the roster they have.
Otherwise, Every school going to have to deal with the transfer rule. We went through a year with this new rule in place and kept our core intact despite how concerned many of us were (for good reason). If players buy into the coach and his philosophy they will stay. There is a 100% more of risk now but everyone going to have to navigate that.
All in all, I think the A10 has benefitted from the transfer rule. I don't recall a year where the A10 while had plenty of departures had this many high profile players transfer in. Besides us, look at Fordham and GW, they got a slew of great to decent transfers both from the P5 and mid/low majors. A10 in a good spot where P5 players that don't get the minutes transfer down and low/mid majors that think going to a decent P5 school is too much of a jump.
We will see how it plays out but I think A10 programs are in a better spot than the majority of conferences.

I think La Salle will benefit more from the transfer rule because kids can easily come home now.

If he turned down OK State, Creighton, Seton Hall and G'town because he wants to be here, why would you think he'd automatically jump after year 1? It's conceivable but probably not highly likely unless he gets small PT.

The kid is saying all the right things.
Doing my best Clyde Frazier: “I won’t look scantly at Khalil Brantley.”

This kid has good energy. It’s been a while since we’ve had some true alpha dogs on a team. I feel like we may have a few this year.

BTW...that's a great clip. Saw that on my IG feed a few days ago. Great job by Coach Ash and the MBB team who were present. Great reaction by all after the buzzer beater.

Doucore, the Rutgers transfer is not listed either. Wonder if it has anything to do with being enrolled and taking classes in the second summer session?

I think it's just a timing issue and I bet they will be added soon.
Nickelberry and Brantley are 100% practicing with the team. I'm not sure about Doucore.

Brantley has been added to the roster on the website. Interesting he is wearing #55. Let's hope he can give us some of what Ramon Galloway gave us which we never filled when he left.

It is all about the jumper.. Can Khalil make the open 3 when it gets kicked to him?
Would love to 40% but will be happy with 35% from beyond the arc.
Guards with a below average perimeter shoot just kills an offense..
