I liked what I heard on Coach Mountain's Podcast (Inside the L, episode 10) this week. He thinks that for the Duquesne match-up, they'll be out getting to exact some revenge for what happened last week with a 74-70 loss to them. I believe that he is capable of making adjustments needed to win. Having split with them in the regular season we know a lot about them. We have a lot more depth than they do. Coach was asked if he had any regrets or trepidation about being in the 8/ 9 bracket and facing Dayton. he said we're gonna have to prove ourselves and play Dayton at some point when it might as well be early while we still have fresh legs. I really like Mountain's approach to this tournament and wanting to take the next step. I think he is going to show up prepared and the team may surprise some people. I will definitely be tuning in next week. Go Explorers!

Joe, is that a dad joke? because I was thinking the exact same thing but I didn't want to say it. Hopefully, there will be some W's to dissect as well as the recent "L" that we just "explored." Coach said all the right things in this podcast. He said "no one will care if we make it to the championship and lose, we just have to win" He really wants to win every game and I think it's contagious. I wanted season tickets this year and COVID got in the way but they have been great fun to watch. They're almost never out of a game, with the exception of Dayton and the first St Joe's meeting many of their losses were within two possessions.

Congratulations to Kayla Spruill (Jr) for making A10 Second team All-Conference and to Claire Jacobs (So) for making Third Team All-Conference.
Future looks bright.

That was an incredibly hard fought win against Duquesne today. The Dukes were a tough matchup despite being without their leading scorer lost to injury in January.
Couch Mountain had said playing Duquesne so shortly ago and losing was good experience to prepare for this game. Duquesne had the upper hand early, going up 11-2 and not missing a field goal in the early going.
Claire Jacobs then started to dominate, and put up a huge stat line. By driving the paint and hitting the tying free throw with only 4 seconds left, she ensured the team could survive and advance. Hayleigh Hill also had a huge game on both ends of the floor.
Bring on the Flyers!

Watched the 4th Quarter and Overtime. Great win. I thought the men's foul shooting issues were going to plague the women, but they pulled it out. The women led the conference in free throws made and free throws attempted, which in a tournament setting is a very good feature to have! Today the rebounding margin was much closer than it has been, and the second chance points were needed so, it is very reassuring to see that continue to develop.

What's the Hykos/JellyBean line for the dayton game? +high teens? I was thinking +10. Game in high 50's or low 60's. BTW I'm posting this late in Q3. EDIT UPDATE: Final score Dayton 85-70. I wonder what happened to Claire Jacobs? She only played 3 minutes in Q4. I missed the first half of that Q4 on a phone call. Huge difference was UD size. #34 and #5 had double doubles. Points in Paint favored UD 52-18. Molly Masciantonio played her _____ off. She had 15 pts on 5-6/2-3/3-3 with 5 boards and 4 steals in 24 minutes off the bench. Only one turnover. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on their season. Good luck to the Seniors in their future plans.
