It's a shame we let the SJU and Fordham games slip away. With those in the W column, we're 8-8 with a 130-140 net and chance to break .500 and hit the 120s with a win over Mason. Yep. 9-8 probably had us finishing 7th.

So if we lose, it's a rubber match with St. Joes?

So if we lose, it's a rubber match with St. Joes? I think we still get Fordham since GW is slightly under 60% of median number of games played. They would slot into 13th based on NET (unless St. Joe's drops a lot losing to Richmond). A10 may abandon that though since GW is really a rounding error just under 60%.

It would really piss me off if the A10 rewards GW with the higher seed when they have had so many COVID issues. On the other hand we have not had any and played all of our scheduled games that weren't cancelled by other teams' COVID problems. I don't care if it is a rounding issue, stick with your rules and certainly don't reward a team for playing so few games.

it shouldn't be a rounding issue at all. they've played 59.3% of the median. if it was 59.5% or more, then it might be but even then, they don't get to 60%.

I didn't do the math, I was relying on Glitter calling it a rounding issue. Point is, why reward a program that has had COVID issues and penalize one that hasn't?

One could argue that we had a lighter schedule...playing 4 games against the bottom 2 teams in the league. No other A10 team had 4 games against Fordham and St. Joe's. On paper...we should have been 4-0 in those 4 games. Also..GW had a game missed for the issues in DC, not just COVID. That was out of their control.

We also played every team in the conference other than GW. We may be the only (or maybe there is another) that managed to do that. You are correct about the Jan. 6th game being out of their control but that is only one game.

Davidson beats VCU. This locks the Bonnies into first place and VCU in second in the standings.

I don't like that The Inquirer puts us against St. Joe's and I wonder if they heard that from a "source" or if they just looked at the pre adjusted standings but it seems like potentially rather shoddy reporting.

Shoddy reporting. He was going based on standings. At the end of the Duquesne vs Rhode Island game tonight, the announcers were talking about the seedings and basically said they don't know how it all shakes out because they didn't understand the median thing and if the league would follow 8.1 (true median) or 8 or some other formula.

Updated NET and standings. Bonnies and VCU are locks at this point. SLU and Richmond...who knows. They have to win their games and probably make it to the finals of tournament. SLU's win over LSU, and Richmond's win over Loyola Chicago help, but it may not be enough. I think we end up a 2-bid league unless SLU or Richmond make it to the finals...or a dark horse like Davidson wins the tourney. St. Bonaventure | 28 | vs. Dayton | VCU | 38 |
| St. Louis | 49 | vs. UMass | Richmond | 53 | vs. St. Joe's | Davidson | 70 |
| Dayton | 90 | @ St. Bonaventure | Rhode Island | 104 |
| UMass | 119 | @ St. Louis | George Mason | 123 |
| Duquesne | 139 |
| La Salle | 195 |
| St. Joe's | 231 | @ Richmond | George Washington | 255 |
| Fordham | 323 |
|
Conference Standings:I'm not sure whether we are 11th or 12th seed. Announcers in a game I watched last night seemed confused as well. If we are 11th, we will have Fordham on Wednesday and then UMass assume all the home teams win on Monday. If we end up as the 12 seed and beat St. Joe's, we would have SLU next assuming all the home teams win. There are permutations that have us playing Mason or Richmond in the 2nd round as well. Seeds 3 through 9 are all up for grabs based on Monday's games. St. Bonaventure | 11-3 | 0.786 | VCU | 10-4 | 0.714 | UMass | 6-3 | 0.667 | Davidson | 7-4 | 0.636 | Richmond | 6-4 | 0.600 | George Mason | 8-6 | 0.571 | St. Louis | 5-4 | 0.556 | Dayton | 8-7 | 0.533 | Duquesne | 7-7 | 0.500 | Rhode Island | 7-10 | 0.412 | George Washington | 3-5 | 0.375 | La Salle | 6-11 | 0.353 | St. Joe's | 2-9 | 0.182 | Fordham | 2-11 | 0.154 |

Whether 8 or 8.1 is used as the 60% of median, GW doesn't qualify to be ranked by its winning percentage, and every other team does. The rule clearly states teams that play above 60% of the median, which means 9 games minimum. Landing on the total of 8, still means they should be NET ranked, regardless of rounding. If 60% of the median had been .9, only then, rounding could be an issue.
St Louis and Umass appear to have made the cut, however if either team had missed 2 more games, they would have had to be NET ranked as well.
I wonder, the last time a "bubble team" was the 5 seed or lower in the A10 tournament, was it La Salle in 2013? I did not check the history to confirm this.

Should crush Fordham, right? They haven't played in weeks. Then we see if we can compete against UMass.

Is there a chance Fordham elects not to play? Could the school say no due to covid pause? At 2-11 with an interim head coach, could they say...why bother?

Someone asked him about GW dropping below La Salle because of NET, and he replied, "My understanding they’re not going there."
