Any one know where Hikim is? Or see him on the bench? His minutes really dropped over the past few games: 11 against UMass, 7 against Mason, 5 against Davidson, 0 against the Hawks. He's been out of control at times, but had no turnovers in 21 minutes against Dayton and did assist Moore's winning shot if I'm remembering correctly, so I'm curious why the falloff in minutes.

When they blew the 21 point lead- they looked like the team that we have been watching lately. I think, what has happened, is that we all know they are capable of that horrible style of play., and we seem to be waiting for it to happen at any time. Bottom line is, that St. Joeβs is a terrible team, and that we are not good enough, to ever take our foot off the pedal.( as they all say)ππ

I noticed some negative team/game body language from Sherif. Donβt know if related to Ayinde or other factors but it struck me. Could not βjoin inβ several times when he should have IMO I noticed this to and it didn't seem to improve either. Kenney placed decently well and I'm not sure what rattled him that led to his attitude on the court. Hope it was just an off day.

One interesting piece of info out of the broadcast if I heard this correctly is that we would be playing SJU on MLK Day on an annual basis. Also, I thought Brian Baptiste did a great job representing the University and the Conference on a national broadcast yesterday. I didn't hear Baptiste. Can anyone pass along what he said? On the basketball front he basically affirmed that LaS and SJU would be trying schedule an annual MLK Day basektball game as part of a new tradition. (I wonder if they would consider the Palestra...) He gave his reflections on MLK and the MLK holiday and connected it to the mission of La Salle. He discussed his role as a committee leader of A-10 athletic leadership. The committee's focus is the social justice and equity concerns of the A-10 schools. He did a great job. He's a young man. I would trade birth certificates with him.

Thanks, I actually have an enlarged photo of that in my rec room Greatest team in Big 5 history!- I was lucky enough to be an undergrad during those days. They made us so proud! Every game they played on weekends at the Palestra were 9,200 Strong. When the band played the La Salle fight song, the place went bonkers! Those were the days my friend, I thought they would never end!

Not sure if he was a walk-on or scholarship player but he always talked fondly about those days to my Dad.

I remember Ed- didnβt get in too many games- but what a thrill to be there during that time+ even more so , to actually be on that team! Come to think of it, we all thought we on that team , when they took the floor. 52 years later, I still get chills, thinking about it! Corny , I know

Not corny at all when you were part of the greatest team to grace the history of college basketball in Philadelphia. We can all wish we were in that situation. Good for you. Something to hold dear forever.

Oh for sure. Having come into La Salle right in time for the nosedive (1996), I love hearing about when we were a powerhouse.

Saw a lot of games that year as a youngster at the Palestra and on TV and followed the team with a passion from the Bulletin articles. We faced some great individual and team opponents that year. Many home games too!

I was in 8th grade that year and already a huge La Salle and Larry Cannon fan. Cannon was the local playground legend. Then watching Durrett come on to the scene was an OMG experience. Never a day goes by that I donβt think about that team or Kennyβs tragic injury. Star crossed. Kenny could/ should have been to 2 final fours. Remember the beat down of Western Kentucky in 1971, who went on to the final four. Some of the magic was restored during Trainβs years, but boy have we fallen hard. Doubt that weβll ever get back to where we were. Too many things working against small schools, save for Nova and Gonzaga.

I entered as a freshman in 1965. Lived in the dorms with Williams, Cannon, King, Stan. Played pick up games with them, or at least tried to. It was pretty amazing to even try and keep up.

Yes, it was my recollection that Isiah "Sky" King was in that freshman class but disappeared for some reason. Boy, what a recruiting year!

The worst part about those years, was a guy named Jim Harding- Unreal, but apparently illegal recruiter- Academically there were a lot of questions.,especially with King. NCAA investigations proved a lot of shady doings by Harding+ we were put on big time probation. Out of NCAA tournament for at least 2 yrs.( not sure) Wound up 23-1( South Carolina in Christmas tourney) We were ranked NO.2 in nation, behind UCLA( Alcindor + Goodrich) Many people thought we could beat that team Sadly , we will never knowππ

I remember the police arriving as we hung Frank Domain in effigy the previous year when we got suspended. So sad. Can't remember 1st Round Quaker City game with Penn State but I drove down on break to see the Indiana and South Carolina games. I think k the beat Indiana by a lot before that disappointing 62-59 loss to the John Roche SC team. I seem to recall Gola taking the blame. Saw almost every game including that final one at West Chester....A downer way to end the year

Yep, thatβs what I have noticed as well. I was critical of him early on and then he seemed to pick it up for a couple games but like you said he hasnβt been around much last couple games. I also could not see him even on the bench yesterday but I may have just missed him.

I was really perturbed with the Frank McGuire slowdown strategy - which was legal at the time. Frustrating as hell. I can't recall ever seeing so many pissed off college students and other La Salle fans in the Spectrum parking lot.

Frank McGuire had actually coached Gola when he coached the Warriors in '61-'62. Unfortunately, McGuire got the best of Gola that night. I believe Bobby Cremins was also on that team...way back when South Carolina was in the ACC.
