Watched 2d half live and just watched 1st half replay
Really happy with the effort, D and team play.
The refs really sucked and gave UD the UD advantage, but we won and this was like a +12 win when you factor the early zebra BS.
If Kenney can calm down on his FT stroke he can be a huge asset for us. That's an easy fix. Let's get him a Jerrell tutorial.
Will start a new thread for all you Flyers fans. Check it out.

Missed the game. I also miss Exploring15's commentary. Oddly enough, no word from him after 20 minutes of solid ball from the Explorers.

We caught Dayton at the right time. Their 2nd leading rebounder/3rd leading scorer left the team this week for medical reasons. It is his second time leaving the team after being diagnosed with post concussion stress syndrome. That's a shane to see for him, especially since he tried to come back this year and was playing well.
That Amzil kid who lit it up just joined the team on the 19th and had his first practice with them on Sunday. He will be interesting to follow the next few years to see if that performance was a fluke or if he is that good.

I didn't see this coming. Thought the spread and O/U were spot on. Congratulations to Coach Ash, his staff and the team on a great road win and gaining some respect in the league. Hopefully we can use this as a foundation stepping stone. Not look past Fordham which is a classic "trap game"...any word on SLU game?
Now the Dayton broadcast team go back to do what they do best which is calling local horseshoe matches.

Specifically, Amzil joins the team and takes the floor their next game ! If this is consistently his game an already good team gets quite an addition.

We played a far more talented team with Amzil, who is highly skilled and was rated like 70th among incoming frosh, and the 70th probably is an underrating since he played internationally. Dude is already legit.

Now the Dayton broadcast team go back to do what they do best which is calling local horseshoe matches. My issue with the broadcast team is that they seemed lazy and unprepared. They basically gave no background on La Salle and the early info flow was like 80-20 for Dayton. Yes, they got better as the game progressed when they got to see more of us. In their defense we were so bad the first 10 minutes maybe they were paralyzed. Notice the difference between the Dayton and Maryland broadcast. The Maryland guys did play the LaSalle is stepping up —the Big 10 school card - but they knew about our program and history. They gave Coach Howard’s background and tied it back to his dad being a Terp. They also were enthusiastic about how we hung in there as the game progressed.

I mean, if you know anything about Dayton Fans...I’m sure the announcers are the same breed. Just the worst.

Agree, like the rest of the team they have to clean up these free throws.

very nice win, especially after that awful start on the offensive end. good job by the defense that allowed them to stay within striking distance.
hopefully david and scott can re-discover their games. they are much better than they've shown so far. if they're playing well, it will only help. also glad to see ayinde back on the floor. imo, he jump-started the team after the terrible start. without that, it could have turned into a blowout. he deserves minutes if he can play like that consistently. i have no problem with him and jhamir being on the floor at the same time.
it was also nice to see the switch to the zone. i understand why coach ash wants man to be the primary defense, but i was glad to see him change it up last night. sometimes the man isn't working so you need to try other things.
nice team effort and hopefully it carries over. i felt good after the maryland game, thought the refs really had a big impact on the outcome of that game. the team deserved much better that night. glad to see they were able to pull it out last night.

Just taking a quick look at the metrics over the last 3 games, this team continuing to improve through reducing their turnovers, shooting more efficiently, forcing turnovers, their 3PT defense is excellent and shot blocking.
Team still has a free throw issue and while the turnover problem is getting better it's still a weakness. There rebounding is very average which is expected from a team without a true big.
La Salle top 7 stat players on the team in order...Brickus, Ray, Moore, Clark, Kenney, Hikim and Gill. All freshmen and sophomores being your best players is a solid position to be in.
Also, it's becoming pretty clear to me Ash is a very consistent defensive coach. It's gone relatively unnoticed but they really have been quite solid over the past three seasons.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t we play zone against Maryland as well? It seems that our zone D at the moment is working — do we keep it going forward? Awesome win. Let’s build off it!

Switching up between man and zone is good for this team. Dayton had better athletes and beat us easily early off man D. The zone adjustment was huge and Ray was a real impact at the top of the zone.

for the most part I thought guys that were producing in the game were getting the minutes. Mik you ought to watch the tape of the game, likely on ESPN+. I think you would really enjoy it. Yes, it is posted on the ESPN app though they don't make it easy to find. I just went back and watched the last six minutes. Enjoyable because having seen the final score, I knew we were going to hold off the last two Dayton possessions but that must have been anxiety inducing to watch live. Problem is, we have some cleaning up to do as far as the last 6 minutes are concerned. Some questionable shot selection, and sloppy ball handling. We could have put the game away, and instead, let Dayton tie the score. It could have been worse. Regardless, the win is a huge boost for this young team, and there has been some steady improvement both from a player standpoint, and coaching/combination standpoint. It what you want to see with a young talented team. One of the TO's was committed by Brickus...If you happen to watch the replay, Jig loses the ball, and stands there. Ash runs about 10 ft onto the court to tell the kid to get back on D.

Complaining about anything in the second half yesterday is crazy. They overcame a deficit, built one, lost it and then held on for the win. Since I’ve been watching La Salle basketball (‘04), I think this is the first time they’ve won a game they:
• trailed at halftime • lost a five point lead in the last five minutes • won the game

Explorers are learning to win on the fly and we ain't got wings. Moore looks to have that intestinal fortitude that can't be taught.

We jumped 72 RPI points to 102 with that win. Dayton dropped 65 to 90.
