Here's a breakdown of the net rating for the main players this season when they're ON court, OFF court and then the net difference. So the table can be read like this, with Beatty (line 1) as an example. When Beatty has been on the court this season, La Salle has been outscored by 10.6 points per 100 possessions. When he's been off the court, La Salle has been outscored by 3.2 points per 100 possessions. Therefore, the team has been 7.4 points per 100 possessions worse when he's on the floor. Only 2 Explorers have positive on-court ratings and they're both freshmen: Jig Brickus and Anwar Gill. The team has exactly 5 players who have positive net ratings and they're all VERY positive. It's early in the season, but Jig, Anwar, Christian, Jack and Clifton could be a nice grouping for us ON OFF NET David Beatty: -10.6 -3.2 -7.4 Jack Clark: -5.7 -11.8 +6.1 Jig Brickus: +2.1 -22.4 +24.5 Christian Ray: -0.2 -19.2 +19.0 Scott Spencer: -16.9 +1.7 -18.6 Sherif Kenny: -9.8 -7.0 -2.8 Anwar Gill: +8.5 -17.8 +26.3 Kimbrough: -20.5 -0.7 -19.8 Clifton Moore: -2.3 -11.6 +9.3 Ayinde Hikim: -24.1 -0.3 -23.8 Brandon Stone -32.1 -5.4 -26.7 Tegra Izay: -18.4 -7.1 -11.3 In the ~90 possession that Brickus and Gill have both been on the floor, La Salle has outscored opponents by 20.0 points per 100 possessions. In the ~37 possessions with Brickus, Gill and Clark have been on the floor, La Salle has outscored opponents by 27.2 points per 100 possessions In the 13 possessions that those 4 have been on the floor with Clifton Moore, we're dead even. We have not yet used the Brickus, Gill, Clark, Ray, Moore lineup All of this is via this incredible website: hoop-explorer.com/?

The other takeaway I have here is that it's time to ease out some of the vets. They're playing dumb basketball and taking valuable reps from younger, more talented players. Advanced metrics love Jig, as does this analysis. Gill is a little less analytic friendly because he's fairly reckless and makes many 'negative' plays in addition to the positive, but it's a promising sign that the team is so much better when he's on the floor. He's a real shot of adrenaline. One of the things I love about him is that even though he's a lefty, he's also fearless finishing with his right hand in heavy traffic. Would love to see him improve his discretion a bit, but I think we really need his fearlessness right now. In a perfect world, I'd take 15% of his aggression from him and give it to Jig, who I think could be giving us more scoring and creation if he forced the issue more often.

I love these stats but I wish they came in tandem with usage. Like if SG1 is being used as a shadow for the other team's 20 PPG scorer, that should be reflected versus giving the impression SG2 is actually the more valuable on-court.

If you're interest I highly recommend subscribing to KenPom. Barttorvik is also really useful and free. As your stats suggest the seniors currently are the weakest players on the team. Overall, amongst A10 seniors they are near the bottom in metric rankings while our freshmen and sophomores are in the top half. Brickus is arguably the best freshmen metrics wise. Kenney numbers the past two games are crazy good as well. Huge improvement for him. Just some food for thought on the overall team attached below. This is organized by BPM. I would post KenPom but that's probably frowned upon. Attachments:

Overall, Kenney net doesn't look good on the year but just look at these numbers the last 2 games. If this becomes a consistent thing.... Attachments:

You can also filter out luck (like crazy 3-pt shooting that isn't sustainable). very cool site but still in beta

I haven't seen us too much at all this year. But from my limited viewing:
Jig is REALLY f'n good. Absolute steal for us and he's absolutely capable of being the best player on a Top 25 team. I saw what he did at Coatesville and was absolutely shocked he wasn't getting a lot more interest than he did. I'll take it.
