Rest in peace Screamer. Your fierce loyalty and rabid enthusiasm will be missed by the entire La Salle University MBB and Alumni community. Attachment Deleted

Sad to see. He was a presence for so long at games back to when I was a student and the games were at the Civic Center. Here's a pic of him with us (as Glitter Bros) when we played Temple on Game Day on 2014. Attachment Deleted

One of a kind. Had not been able to attend games the last year or so due to health issues. RIP Dave!

Very sad to hear that Dave has passed. His “screams” at the games are always with me. RIP David.

This is really sad news. He was a great guy and fun to listen to when he heckled the refs or the other team. He sat right behind me at Gola when he came to the games, but it was obvious over the past several years that he was struggling with his health. My prayers go out to him and his family. He'll be missed.

That is very sad. I actually talked with him and sat near him at Dan Rodden during Selection Sunday. So glad I got to do that. Really great guy. He also dedicated his life as an attorney to fighting the good fight. Truly a good person and very entertaining as well.

Very sad to hear this. When I heard him infrequently the last few years I thought there may be health issues. May you have an equally passionate afterlife.

Found one more pic of him with his patented shirt he would wear to the games. This was from the ESPN tip-off marathon on Nov 12, 2013 where we beat Quinnipiac in a 9:00 AM game. I loved that he had is own numbered shirt and embraced the moniker. Attachment Deleted

I'm so sorry to learn of this!
He's been an institution at La Salle games ever since I can remember. I had heard he had medical issues the last few years that prevented him from attending the games. Perhaps this is a blessing; I hate the idea of someone enduring long term suffering.

Very sad in deed. My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his wife, family and friends. Dave was someone I've chatted with for a long long time. I always saw his love for La Salle, La Salle MBB, his wife and the Law.
Three stories I want to share if you don't mind.
Many years ago, David was in the midst of a trial. The first round of whatever league we were in at the time was occurring at noon ( I think against Fordham). The Judge knew Dave was a huge La Salle MBB fan so instead of the normal one hour for lunch, the Judge extended the Lunch Hour to two hours. Dave ate his lunch in a small room and listed to the broadcast on a small transistor radio.
There was a game at the Spectrum against GW when they had those three Russian starters. Dave would heckle them in Russian. I don't know if it was really Russian but it was funny as hell.
Finally, Dave was having issues with his voice which is not good for a trial lawyer. The toll he paid for all those years. His doctor told him he had to stop the yelling at the games. Dave told him "okay but with one exception." The doctor said " What's that?" Dave said the Villanova game. Dave hated Villanova and especially Rollie. It was hysterical once to see Dave heckling Rollie during a game and see Rollie make his famous fist and shake it towards Dave.
After, Rollie left Villanova for UNLV, someone asked him what he missed and didn't miss about Philly and the Big Five. He said " I won't miss that damn La Salle Screamer."
I guess heckling is not PC today. Dave never got tossed from a game that I know. He never crossed the line.
Finally, I guess one of the last times he and his wife attended a game at Gola, they were seated maybe 3 rows from the court and on the aisle. A very nice gesture to accommodate him climbing the steps. Oh yeah, they had their yellow La Salle tee shirts...The La Salle Screamer and Mrs. Screamer.
La Salle lost a truly wonderful man. A true LaSallian.
RIP. Shalom my friend.

Thanks for sharing, Jellybean. We lost a special fan. I hope they can honor him at a game. If we play Nova at home or the Palestra (even better) this year, that would be a fitting send-off assuming fans can attend the games then.

Rollie is in purgatory re-living losses to all Big 5 schools endlessly for the next couple of centuries.
Deepest condolences to Screamer's family & friends. A true Lasallian.
