However, the Big East and Big 12 will play its series, so it appears that the Texas game will be one of the two non-conference games that we’re waiting to hear an official date for. The other one might be La Salle.
Nova released their schedule and we aren't on it...
I also heard from someone with very insider info from a Big 5 school, that local teams are expecting to have quick turnarounds if one team can't play a game, another team will step up on short notice and play. Sounds like the planning/execution of the season this year will be super fluid and maybe even a bit random. For example, if we can't play a game against Bucknell one week and we can't reschedule with them, if Lafayette also can't go play Lehigh because of Covid on a Friday, and we play Towson on Friday but then not another game again until the next wednesday, we could potentially step in to play Lafayette on that Monday. Things could get Wacky from the sounds of it.
Don't expect to see Villanova on La Salle's basketball schedule
Caught in the schedule shuffle is Villanova’s game against La Salle, which was slated for Dec. 9 but is now on hold.
“We owe a major apology to La Salle,” Wright said. "We asked for relief for the Big 5 (game), how important it was to us, but the Big East was not able to give us relief. I was very disappointed with that, but we have to deal with it. So the La Salle game, right now we’re trying to reschedule if we can. That’s going to be tough. And Penn can’t schedule any games yet so it’s up in the air.”
St. John's schedule release indicated that after our opener we would stay there for another opponent to be named on Friday. It is going to be a three team tournament with St John's playing Weds and Thurs, and La Salle playing Thurs and Fri. I assume the third team to be named will be driveable to NY but not a Big East school and not Ivy League obviously.
