Welcome to La Salle, Tegra. It looks like rebounding and shot blocking is his forte from the video I could find of him. He's a 3 Star according to Rivals.

He's just gonna walk in and take Shaggy's number like that. Have some respect.

In addition to being a good basketball player, he also appears to be a quality young man based on his twitter feed.

I see that he is from Montreal. I wonder if Madam President spoke a little Canadien with him to make him feel at home. Go Habs.

The Pres should have a Philly Montréal food option at the hideaway. Half a cheesesteak with a side of poutine.

welcome tegra !
second team all-state and second-team all-wcac. big, strong kid already who will only get stronger once coach wooten gets ahold of him.
nice to see most of his future teammates welcoming him and jhamir on social media.
anwar, jhamir, and tegra makes up a very nice recruiting class. still one scholarship open. will be interesting to see if they fill it this year. my guess is it's not likely unless a stud transfer wants to come. the 2021 class is loaded so it wouldn't be a bad thing to carry this over since coach ash only has 2 to give next year.

If there’s any chance at all that seniors are getting more time, we have to hold that spot in case a major conference kid get squeezed.

That is an interesting point Mr. D. College Spring Sports eligibility is certainly going to have to adjusted.

He's 6-10 and as they say, "You can't teach height." That's the plus side.
But he's also another "project player," like Garrett Bragg was. Only a 3-star rating which explains why nothing other than mid-major schools were interested in him.

That is cruel. A BS from SJU can get you a job at ShopRite if you have heart and a good motor.

Took a look at Tegra yesterday. Not a lot of videos of game action but did see a lot of this year vs Rock Creek and Bullis Prep. Saw his game with Gonzaga during his Soph season. Saw about 8 separate short videos.
I had heard that he was an old time center who runs from rim-to-rim. All true. What the videos showed was his hands are very very good for a big man. Second, he gets good position to receive passes. Love how he gets real wide in the paint.
Most of his shots were from maybe four feet from the basket. Guard gets to the lane. Draws his man and dishes to Tegra. He takes one step and powers to the rim for the dunk.
What really caught my attention was his jump hook/flip. Most of these shots came directly in front of the basket maybe 4-6 feet from the basket with his right hand. A little later, I saw a clip where he took the same shot from the middle of the lane. In other words, he was 7-8 feet from the basket. Nothing but net. I don't know the last time we had a big man with a jump hook. Interesting addition to the offense.
Then, I saw him post up on the left side and take the baby jump hook with his left hand. Nothing but net. So he's ambidexterist? Interesting.
He took a couple of shots that quite frankly didn't look pretty. They were short "jump" shots from maybe 6-8 feet away. I would call them more of a "push" shot.
So he doesn't put the ball on the floor. Nope in one clip he gets the ball outside the paint. Power down with one dribble and then dunks it. Another time (only one time I saw it) he receives a pass at the foul line. He takes one quick dribble with his left hand and again powers to the goal for a dunk.
I like to watch how guys shoot Free Throws and I didn't get many opportunities to see them in these videos. I saw three attempts and naturally the videos saw him making them. I know it's only three attempts but the form was good. I just got the feeling he wasn't confident. That should improve over time. I set expectations that he's closer to 55-60% from the line today than he is 65-70%.
Rebounding was fine but not great. He's more of a keep the ball alive guy right now. Doesn't have the same instincts yet that we saw in Ed especially on the offensive boards. Again small sample.
From the clips, he has a very long wing span. Didn't see a lot of blocked shots but the ones I did, he didn't come close to a foul. His long arms kept him away from the fouls.
I think he needs to add some strength especially in his lower half of his body. It's pretty striking to see him as a Soph and then as a SR. BTW, he was listed as 6-8 in the Soph games and 6-10 or 7-0 as a Senior.
Not a lot of stats but here are two.
This year versus Rock Creek (MD) with 2021 prospect Zaahir Williamson ( listed at 6-6 235 but he's bigger).
Izay was 6-6/0-0/1-1 for 13 pts in 20 minutes. 2OR 5DR 7TR 2PF No ast/to/stl or blks. lost 65-69 ZW was 5-8/0-0/0-0 for 10 pts in 24 minutes. 3OR 4DR 7TR. 5PF 2 TO's with no ast/stl or blks.
His Soph season at home versus Gonzaga (DC) with JR Anwar Gill. very limited boxscore in highly contested loss Izay had 2 baskets and was 2-4 from the line for 6pts. Anwar had 5 baskets and was 2-2 from the line for 12 points with 6 rebs and 2 assists.
I hope this helps.
Next on to Anwar Gill.
Take care and be well.

Nice form on his shot, good handle and distributes the ball well. Looks like a nice pick up for Howard.
