I wonder if his success is attributed to Toppin. He's lost double digits for nine seasons before this and only made the tourney once at Alabama.

Is Grant the Dayton coach in 20/21? He had a 7-year deal at Alabama and is in his 3rd year at Dayton. I'm guessing yes unless some other school wants to pay a huge buyout.

Consider the fact he’s also a Dayton alum

i wasn't expecting anything, but after taking a hard look, we have christian ray who had a 4.0 gpa his first semester and yet a juco transfer at st bona and a walk-on from st joe's (pa) who his numbers are superior to makes the all-academic team ahead of him.
javonte perkins from saint louis should have been either a first or second teamer. goodwin and french are good, but he's the best player on that team.

Bigger question for me about Dayton - does Crutcher go pro with Toppin if they make a deep run in the NCAA tournament like Delonte West did with Jameer? With Landers and Mikesell in their final years, that leaves a lot of holes Dayton's lineup if he leaves as well.

La Salle and Fordham were the only schools shut-out of the awards. I wondered if Ed would have made the cut if he hadn't quit, but looking at the 3rd team and the all-defensive teams...I can't see anyone he would have displaced.

I think you would have needed to get to a 5th team to find Ed on a team. And that is with 6 guys on a team (which I hate, but SEC does 8, even worse).

And Santos-Silva has a 3.0. Not to mention Davidson is far superior academically to every other school and they didn't get anyone on. Kind of a joke of a team, IMO.

Really, we're debating the Academic team?

I tip of the hat to players who get good grades, but if we are debating the academic team, the year was not a productive one in the court.

Really, we're debating the Academic team? Maybe we can get 11 pages out of this.

Yes. I think that we should be debating the academic team because even though it is only a consolation to fans, it is an area where I think we have cleaned up in the past. It serves us well for recruiting purposes for all sports not just basketball. The fact of the matter is a small percentage of A10 players will make the NBA. The rest of us need real jobs somewhere.
As for Davidson being left off, I don't have the stats in front of me, but perhaps their GPAs take a hit from harder coursework?
