We'll obviously have separate threads for La Salle game(s), but I figured I'd put this up to discuss the tournament in general.
Couple questions going in: Can anyone play their way to an At-Large without winning the tournament? My guess is it's only possible with a Finals appearance and a close loss to Dayton by either Richmond or URI.
Does Dayton have to win the tournament to get a #1 seed? My guess on that would be yes as well.
If La Salle doesn't play (and lose) in the 8/9 game on Thursday, can you really even consider the A-10 tournament underway?
First Round; Wednesday, March 11
Game 1: No. 12 George Mason vs. No. 13 Saint Joseph’s, 1 p.m. Game 2: No. 11 George Washington vs. No. 14 Fordham, 3:30 p.m.
Second Round; Thursday, March 12
Game 3: No. 8 UMass vs. No. 9 VCU, 12 p.m. Game 4: No. 5 St. Bonaventure vs. Game 1 winner, 2:30 p.m. Game 5: No. 7 Davidson vs. No. 10 La Salle, 6 p.m. Game 6: No. 6 Duquesne vs. Game 2 winner, 8:30 p.m.
Quarterfinals; Friday, March 13
Game 7: No. 1 Dayton vs. Game 3 winner, 12 p.m. Game 8: No. 4 Saint Louis vs. Game 4 winner, 2:30 p.m. Game 9: No. 2 Richmond vs. Game 5 winner, 6 p.m. Game 10: No. 3 URI vs. Game 6 winner, 8:30 p.m.
Semifinals; Saturday, March 14
Game 11: Game 7 winner vs. Game 8 winner, 1 p.m. Game 12: Game 9 winner vs. Game 10 winner, 3:30 p.m.
Championship; Sunday, March 15
Semifinal winners, 1 p.m.

One other question. Does Jeff Neubauer get fired by 6:00 PM on Wednesday? Not if they schedule 18 games against GW next year.

Beating a team 3 times in a season is so tough. If Fordham can do that to GW, I will be amazed. and Impressed.

I disagree on Neumann's comment about having to play Dayton close in order to get an at large. The final is on Selection Sunday. The selection of an at large team vs. another may be dependent on the game's outcome, but I do not think they will be looking at margin of loss in making these final considerations. I think point differentials are often overemphasized. The committee cares much less about margin of losses, which is also why I also say Dayton probably won't automatically get upgraded to a 1 seed despite having played #1 Kansas close.

This doesn't bode well for allowing fans to attend the A10s

Venn diagram of people who mock preventative measures before a mass-scale outbreak and people who would be furious about the lack of preventable measures taken while in the midst of a mass-scale outbreak.

Hysteria or not — a co-worker of mine spent a lot of time Saturday working out with someone who ended up coming down with symptoms and tested positive this afternoon. I stood right by my co-worker for a while yesterday during a meeting about how we were handling the coronavirus.
My co-worker has no symptoms yet but he got sent home indefinitely.

The situation is improving in China The strong control and isolation measures imposed by China are paying off. For several weeks now, the number of cases diagnosed every day is decreasing. A very detailed epidemiological follow-up is being carried out in other countries; outbreaks are very specific to areas, which can allow them to be controlled more easily.

I'd rather overkill this shit than underkill it. I have always been against the A10 tourney being a traveling carnival, and have always been against the tourney being at Barclays, but now isn't the time to go on a anti NYC rant. The biggest thing to me is this virus is less than 2.5 months old in humans.
It's going to get worse before it gets better.

One other question. Does Jeff Neubauer get fired by 6:00 PM on Wednesday? I hope that Jeff keeps his job. Like Fastchuck & me he is a 71er but he was born in '71. Like 27 miles to the East of Fordham is that Joe Mihalich whose Hofstra Pride won their 24th game yesterday. Not to jinx Mihalich, they are on TV at 6 on CBS Sports playing the Blue Hens.

Was just looking at the net ratings. Richmond at 37 not in but Indiana at 60, Texas at 68 and NC State at 54 at last four in. What am I missing.

Happy for Joe and hoping they win their championship tomorrow night - I sat next to him on the plane back from Japan when the team did the tournament there in December 1990 and he is such a great person.

With the tournament brings the all conference teams. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are.
To me, Ed was the only who had a chance to make All Conference, but I don't think he will. Also, I know the banquet is a ways off, but who is the team MVP? It's Beatty if you take the scoring leader, but again, Ed would have been the choice. Don't think that happens now either.

Mike Jensen said as much about the all City-6 team: We still don’t have a La Salle player, or a second player from Penn, Temple, or St. Joe’s. La Salle’s Ed Croswell had a shot, but he’s not with the Explorers anymore, so it’s hard to put him on this team. Even if Croswell hadn’t left the team last week, his competition would have been tough, coming down to Penn’s Devon Goodman and Temple’s Nate Pierre-Louis.www.inquirer.com/college-sports/all-city-6-saddiq-bey-collin-gillespie-ryan-daly-villanova-basketball-20200303.html

Joe, I understand that the net has replaced rpi but would one justify placing these teams in ahead of Richmond given the relative rpi

Since the actual net algorithm isn’t released, they don’t have to talk about the list.
Richmond is 25 in RPI. The highest school ever left out I think is 34...the Bonnies.

Nice to hear Dick Vitale go on a rant right now during Gonzaga-St. Mary’s on why he thinks Richmond should be in the tournament over P5 teams who are .500 in their conference.
