Is this our best group of guards since Overton, Woods, and Hurd?

Watched Indiana Michigan last night. I don't think we can ever get big men like that. How close are we to having a team like Nova did a few years ago when they went to the final 4. They went 4 guards a lot and were able to beat teams with skilled big men. I can't remember how many and how good their big men were. Just curious to where you guys thought we were skill wise compared to them.

Watched La Salle Florida State on the way home last night. Peterson's quick shots in the first half reminded me of our Overton in transition.
Again, our bigs are not our downfall. In our worst losses this year, the downfall was mostly about shot selection and not taking care of the ball. Our guards get all the focus from other defenses, allowing Wright to come in, shoot near 60%, and take over a game. Our two bigs have been generally staying clear of foul trouble, and gave us a 7 pt advantage on second chance points last night, the biggest differencemaker as well as Peterson and turnovers. Zack isn't forcing shots, but he had two tip ins that we badly needed when the game was getting close. Our bigs are only sophomores, yet they are affecting games in mostly positive ways.

The Nova big man who is now an anchor on CSN has us in the NCAA's. He said the two big wins will get us off the bubble. I cant think of his name right now.

Yes.. Stukes is a very good passer and that youtube video doesn't really show that...
He is working on his perimeter shot as it is a slower release with less lift which could result in a tougher time getting his shot off. But you can say the same thing about Duren and he can get his shot off when the situation dictates it.
I do worry he does take advantage of his height and athleticism in the paint driving against other guards in HS.. Those situations will not be available for him when he gets to college where everyone is bigger and more athletic..
He will have to adjust.. My money is on that happening

Stukes is not just a fill in player he is really good. Against his best competition this year he scored as follows. 30 -Rozelle, 27-Neuman, 28-Roman (video shown) and 33-SJ Prep. He has very good moves even when in traffic. Slightly bigger than Duren and better finisher. To early to say he is as good or better than Tyrek but it is close when looking at both of them as high school seniors. I don't want to jinx the kid but me thinks he is a really good pick-up

I think you are talking about John Celestand. He was a guard at nova around Donnie carr's era which is my era. He was a great free throw shooter. Only thing John wasn't a big. Is Jason Lawson on Comcast sports net?

I would think his recruiting profile/rating will increase in the near future as the sites will start with their spring updates... Like I mentioned before, I think he gets away with his athleticism and size a little too much for what he likes to do in HS that will not work in college.. I believe he can make the proper adjustments..

Obviously it would be really nice to land a guard like Shep for the 2014-15 season...
And would complete a very nice 3 guard rotation

I have to agree that our Bigs have made notable progress since the start of the season and what they brought earlier on. And yes, they are sophmores. Being a long time fan at La Salle my take on our previous bigs at this point was that few could walk and chew gum at the same time. Both have high ceilings from where i sit. If Jerrell gets to that place where he seriously works his game, I think he could be the best power forwaRD IN THE a10. i think he has the tools.

Our bigs have progressed a ton this season. It's been great to see.
I thought Zack was pretty effective last season when he was in games. He's a really smart player and a very good passer. They ran similar stuff with him last season setting picks and the like.
His one flaw is his athleticism. There's not a lot that he can do to avoid getting blocked from behind. He doesn't have explosiveness. He is what he is in that department. But he's pretty decent one on one and doesn't force anything. He's become somewhat of a beast on the boards and is really good at getting putbacks.
He's a very smart player. All the pre-season hype about him has come to fruition. He's only getting better as the season progresses, minus his bobble hands yesterday.
Jerrell is pretty underrated, I think. He's REALLY great down low. He has made some shots that are really crazy. Last year he traveled a lot in those situations but his footwork has gotten infinitely better. He also has gotten really good at setting picks. I also think his defense has improved the past few games, minus his bonehead move in the final seconds against UMass. He hasn't been fouling as quickly and has been really productive on the court.
I also cannot say enough things about DJ. He's such a secret weapon. His length and quickness make him a nightmare on defense. He is also never out of position, either. If he found his shot, then he's a ridiculous weapon. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes out there.
