Kale just said on the broadcast, it was nothing controversial and he wasn't run off the team. Then noted something like 674 players transferred in D1 hoops last year. When asked before the game about Croswell, Kale said that he had not heard anything about a reason for his departure. I also heard that Ed was ready to follow Osun out the door when G left and Ash convinced him to stay. He certainly is in a better position to find a higher level program now than he was 2 years ago.

Folks will cone calling. The NCAA portal is like the NYSE for D1 athletes. People leave mid- season. This is not rare or a diss on our program. It’s just business

Throwing this as a possibility:
Ed told Ash he wanted to split. Ash said ok but you’re done here, rightly so.
Seem far fetched? Everyone stop with the ‘but your teammates’ vitriol.

To me, it seems like the program is closing ranks and not letting anything out. Kale didn't hear a reason why Ed left, and probably wouldn't at this point, but he was also kept in the dark about Spencer not playing. Remember, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Just catching up on all this. Really disappointing news. I had my suspicions he didn’t fit in Ash’s system but I would still love him to be a part of the team. Really solid big. The timing is curious to me. I’m not going to make any assumptions though. Also, someone is spreading rumors on twitter that Clifton Moore seriously injured his leg in practice. Hoping it’s just typical twitter nonsense. Keep an eye out. C Moore injury from what im hearing is a dislocated knee...should be able to return in time next season! And Spencer injury supposedly a slightly torn labrum may have to sit out the remaining games but he might tough it out and play...Tough Times with the Explorers.

Ed seems to be on a ego trip as he posts on Instagram all of the schools that some low level reporter (who presumably Ed told) reached out to Ed. On that list was st. Joes which would mean sitting out 2 years. I have a hard time believing Ed transfers up to the Nebraska/Seton Halls that he’s reported to get interest from. Drexel levels seem much more likely.

OK, we should hold off crushing a 20-year-old making what I'm sure is a super difficult decision.
Best of luck to him. He's decided to move on. We should too.

IMO- When U leave your team with 3 games left( plus A-10 tourney)- u leave yourself open for scrutiny (. No )matter how old you are) In most cases( unless there was a negative incident), you are not going to come out ,looking good.

It has been a common phenomenon for the last two years. Penn State lost the most players in D 1 football last year (like 14) and one five star left this year with 3 games left. Guys who aspire to be a round 1 or 2 NFL pick Feign injuries the last few games. A huge number bypass Bowl games, especially big bowl games. We also had 5 transfers leave the program recently in Carter (a 4 star P 5 player and starter), Myles, Moultrie, joseph and Sullivan

Posted on Ed’s IG story “your brothers aren’t always your brother” That’s a tough situation with many conflicts. Coach wants to circle the team wagons and says you don’t play out, which I get. Between that and some possible envy about going to grass greener than 20th and Olney it is possible that players did not rush to support him. I hope they do in time and hope Ed finishes out the semester. I think it will be easier for players to support him once the sting of the news passes and/or the season ends.

Having your best player leave with 3 games left and the playoffs ahead. Even if I try to take off my fan hat and put on a business man's hat this ain't "just business" its "bad business". Glad it is the first time I have seen it at La Salle. There is a worm in this apple. Bad blood somewhere. Oh, and sorry Joe I do not believe when told by a player he wants to leave at the end of a season a coach says go now with 3 games left and the playoffs on the horizon, just not plausible to me. I though the teams effort yesterday was a great vote of confidence in the program and was very reassuring. I thought guys made a strong statement with their play. I will let this go now. Sorry I am so tweaked by the "just business approach". Yes, shit happens, but it is shit!

You well could be right, one or two posters may know what the whole story is. I think Joe's comment was more of an add on to his earlier post which was "OK, we should hold off crushing a 20-year-old making what I'm sure is a super difficult decision. Best of luck to him. He's decided to move on. We should too." I 100% agree with that.

I believe that Rapid Charles has the most plausible scenario. The young man came with 2nd thoughts based on the change in program leadership. Last year, maybe he never felt comfortable but gave it a shot this year. Concluded that this was wasn't a good fit for him. So be it. I wish the kid well. Go up? Unsure about moving up. Go 50 miles to the Southwest. The Blue Hens have a spot for him.

Just speculation here....but could there have been an attitude issue here? Especially after the Davidson blow out? Maybe a confrontation, and in lieu of kicking Ed off the team, or issuing a suspension, they gave him time to consider transferring, and sitting out the last 3 games? Something's not right. Either that, or he just got some bad advice from people close to him. That is my feeling as well.

I just googled it because I didn't think it was that far either: from Olney Av & 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19141 to University of Delaware 1 h (50.6 miles) via I-95 S Fastest route now, avoids road closures due to construction Glordays knows his mileage.

Based on the collective, sustained effort, attitude and grit the team showed yesterday, I don’t think there’s a team chemistry issue with the coach. Not sure what exactly prompted the departure and honestly don’t care, it’s his decision and life, but it doesn’t appear to me that the coaching staff is having problems with the team and it’s collective attitude and that would be the only thing I would worry about.
If you listen to last press conferences and interviews with Ash, he clearly loves Ed’s toughness and rebounding, but he also talks about how JK brings “different things defensively” for them as a team and adds a bit more athleticism to the lineup when he’s in there.
Ed’s biggest weakness as a player was covering drives to the basket. JK seemed to do a nice job of that yesterday at least. JK doesn’t have nearly the rebounding prowess and it will be missed.
All I know is the team was surprised by Ed’s decision and the timing of the announcement on Friday. Hopefully Moore can recover in time for November but missing the Spring and Summer workouts is a big loss. Dislocated knees can mean other damage to the knee, hopefully he can be back to full strength by September.

Just the nature of the beast today. It hurts but it all balances out because we tend to make pickups via transfer often. I’m not mad, it’s absolutely his right and no one should be forced to be somewhere they do not want to be. I won’t root for him or anything wherever he goes, but I don’t wish failure upon him either

Thanks for having my back, calsufan. I lived in the Newark area for 27 years. I was using my failing memory of the periodic trips to Gola. Remember, distance is a relative thing. Delaware is so damn small that some people think if you drive over 50 miles it is an overnight trip.

So blind sided by this. He seemed to fit in with the team. He was a beast in several games and showed he was someone that could thrive as a top tier player in A10. I am sure there is good reason behind the departure but it doesn’t make it any easier. The timing of it seems very odd to me as well as some have stated. Maybe I have a different memory but have not recalled mid/end of season transfers of players that could be considered the team MVP.
Anyway - we have to look forward and we still have a lot of question marks and potential on this team. Just a matter of continuing to blend these guys skills together.
