Nah, that’s understating. His sophomore year lines up almost perfectly with Jerrell’s.

That’s fair. If you stick Ed on that team, I wonder if it’s a positive or negative to the result.

Croswell is only playing about 19% of the time, so his time at Providence isn't going great so far. I marvel at his Offensive Rebounding rate of 20.7% though, which is better than 22 teams in the country. His offensive rebounding rate is even better than when he was at La Salle where he was at one point in the year, the best in the country.

He is an amazing O rebounder. But he has limitations in other areas, which is why he should have stayed in A10, but instead opted for greener grass. I don't begrudge him for that but as many have said here, it may not prove to be the best long play.
Look at Santos Silva.
Was getting 27 minutes and produced 13 ppg and 9 rpg as a pretty complete high level A10 player at VCU.
Now getting 23 minutes and is producing 9 ppg and 6 rpg at Texas Tech.
As a more complete player, he is producing less #s but he's playing against NBA or high level foreign players every night and can translate this experience into bigger bucks.
I see Ed making the same pro dough coming out of Providence as he would have coming out of La Salle.

So do I, but revisionist history has made him an All-A10 guy apparently. He was never that. He was a good player who would be a bench piece on a good A10 team. When Ed left, he was tops in the country in offensive rebounds, was MVP of the team in a tournament, led the team in rebounds and was 2nd in points, and was on-pace to score 1000 points and possibly pull down 1000 rebounds in his career, and his +/- was the best on the team. He showed well against some other more experienced A10 big men, and was mentioned as a possible 3rd team all A10 player as a sophomore. I remember at least 3 or 4 games where he took over at the end and won them for us. Not sure it's revisionist history to say by his junior or senior year he would have been all A10 if he kept developing.

Looking at the points made above, I think that one thing that should be said is that originally Ed wasn't supposed to play this year.. He was going to sit out and go through a Big East strength and conditioning program for a year but with this being a free season of eligibility Cooley made the decision to have Ed play this year to have more depth and to get Ed accustomed to the new competition.
I think we are all over analyzing because once Nate Watson goes pro next year Croswell should be in line to 18-20 min per game.. maybe even more

Or they’ll be a 6-10 freshman coming in who can shoot a little more.

PC is beating the crap out of Nova, 35-17, Croswell has 1 TO and no other stats off of the bench.

Played three total minutes, what a waste! Serious question, and sorry if answered, why did He quit team prior to seasons end?

Wanted to beat Villanova and knew they’d duck us this year.

Ed single-handedly made one of the biggest bonehead plays I've seen in college basketball. Providence down 2 with 1:40 left and momentum, and Ed let his man get behind him from 90 feet away on an inbounds pass for an easy layup while committing his 5th foul on said layup. Villanova closed it out and, unfortunately for me, covered.

Disagree. The way defenses can play Croswell at La Salle versus the way they could play him as a teammate of Myles Powell are very, very different. Its not like he's a create-your-own wing who is going to try to bring the exact same game up a level. I like Ed but I think he will be offered minutes at the recruitment stage, but he will not ultimately get (in season) huge minutes in a program like Seton Hall. He is great at cleaning up the O glass and pretty good at putbacks but he will be small with limited moves in the lane in the BE and more like a 4 pt 3 reb guy IMHO, barring a couple 8/6 games here and there. His midrange jumper when being defended by an athletic player and lack of lockdown defense won't help get minutes either. The BE will add the body for an upside move but I don't see him getting 2019-20 La Salle stat lines in the BE. This prediction on Ed in the BE was pretty much spot on. this year rebounds and points 4.4 5.8 (15 minutes/ game) last year rebounds and points 1.9 2.3 (7 minutes/ game) avg 3 rebounds | 4 points He has also improved his body by conditioning in a BE program (and no Explorer Den access)

I know for a fact that you've seen worse basketball plays than that just in the annual La Salle / Duquesne scrimmage alone!

After watching Ed dominate March Madness, I’m left wondering how good this Explorers team could have been. Probably would rival the ‘13 Sweet 16 squad or the storied ‘97 team with Kobe and Rip Hamilton. Best La Salle Big since Hilton Armstrong.

I think Ed is probably the best example of a La Salle kid transferring up and it working out. He's playing in the Sweet 16 tomorrow night, instead of winning 20 games over 2 seasons.
Murray had to go to Texas Southern to play in the NCAA Tourney.

Providence fans going nuts around Ed Croswell. I'm glad for him. He made a sound decision.

Can we merge this into the "Ed is transferring," thread? We have to keep that bad boy going.
