Refs treat Daly like he is Lebron.

It's been a rough month or so around here, so this is very needed. No matter how bad SJU (PA) is this year, this feels good.

My burning question after just getting back from the game is...why doesn't Lafond have his name on the back of his jersey like the rest of the team?

What? Don’t think that happened. Fordham lost to Richmond. It was a women's score. It made me look twice also, but Fordham Lady Hoops are quite good.

Back from the game. A few observations. It was weird not seeing Croswell start. It was strange to see Ray take the tip-off for La Salle and Longpre for the Schmawks, or as my seatmate observed, this was the first all ginger tip-off he recalls seeing in college basketball.
As someone said earlier, the first 10 minutes were sloppy. I think Daly scored their first 8 or 9 points, but even though he scored a lot, I thought they played him well, especially when Spencer was on him. We shot well from 3 in the first half, but myself and the group around me were nervous because we normally don't shoot well from three an entire game. We all felt they'd revert back to the mean in the second half and so they should try to force the ball to the rim more. The team did fall back to earth with their 3pt shooting in the second half but the team also recognized it and took the ball to the rim more.
A few observations about Daly. I'm glad that we didn't land him. Although he shot well tonight, in my opinion he is a gunner and not a team player. He looks for his shot first, last and always. Some of his shots throughout the game were unconscionable. And no, not because they were losing and he was trying to get them back in the game, but because he wanted to shoot. He whined A LOT to the refs. I felt that a few plays were cheap when he ran over players. He also pushed off a hell of a lot when he was driving or just lowered his head and plowed through people and nothing was called. He seemed to be the golden boy out there and it was pretty disappointing that the refs let him get away with so much during the game. He is the new Schmawk that I'll love to hate. Thank god we didn't bring him aboard.

Thank god we didn't bring him aboard. The dude got double teamed almost every time he touched the ball and still put up numbers..especially in the 2nd half when we caused some turnovers on him. Also hit 100% of his foul shots. He had several passes that should have been assists but his teammates couldn't finish. I'd take him in a heartbeat on our team for his toughness alone and not being afraid to drive in.

Yes he put up numbers, but as I said before, the guy's a gunner. I like players that play as part of the team. I also don't like guys who score and whine the whole game especially when there were a TON of non-calls on him.

Reluctantly agree with glitter. If we had an offense-only best player who had to play though something really tough like double teams or a broken finger on his shooting hand, this board would be 100% supportive and not fall for petty bullshit critiques.

It's not petty and it's not bullshit. It's an opinion. Not my type of player.

This board: "We need an offensive player who can be a go-to and fearlessly take over a game" Also this board: "I don't want a guy on our team who scored 45 points against us in 2 games"

I would take Daly on this team no question. Kid is a baller. He needs to be surrounded by good players. He is playing with slop. If he had better players he would easily assimilate into that group and be productive. He has flaws but he is tough and skilled.

In the very early season I posted that I hope Christian Ray ends up being a glue guy like Ryan Daly.
To which somebody responded: "Daly is a poor man's Jordan Price". IMO that is as wrong as you can be.

Daley reminded me of that Peyton Aldridge kid that played for Davidson a couple of years ago. Can carry a team on his back, within reason, creates opportunities, does a lot of little things very well that you may not notice......I'd take him, too.
Does anyone know what the story is behind La Salle's #14, Andrew Lafond? The crowd went nuts when he went in and whenever he would get his hands on the ball. It wasn't his first game ever or this season, but they would go wild about him for some reason. Anyone know why?

My opinion on Daly changed a bit when he hit that catch running floater three.
That said, I want to see it on a winning team.

What? Don’t think that happened. Fordham lost to Richmond. Maybe it was the women's game. It was a banner running at the bottom of the screen during the game. Or maybe I need new glasses.
