Definitely the right move, only downside is its Aramark so the options will be shitty.

Fixed your post. Most students are 18 to 21. Drinks will be prohibited in the student section.

"Aramark will have trained professionals serving and selling alcoholic beverages during games"
This probably translates to $10 Miller Lites in Gola and $4 Miller Lites in tghe Hideaway, where La Salle employees have poured in the past.

I was under 21 for 2 years of college. I was over 21 for 2 years. Most turn 21 before 2nd semester junior year. If my friends jr. and senior year could have drank at the games, I’m sure a lot more would have gone. We know alums will go and drink. This gives the older students a chance to go out and have a few drinks not in a basement on lambert or chew.

Everyone approves of this move. Yes. We lobbied hard for the hideaway tent or something festive for the game day and I'm glad we were heard. Now we need to do our little part and keep showing up. Still perturbs me that there can be ghost campus on game days but I can at least see the investment being made to counteract that culture. Two years ago or so there was a "free barbecue night" but it was in the cold open air ❄... now that there are heaters and a tent over our heads I am sure that would be a smash hit.

Good move!
Just curious - what other peer Catholic institutions serve beer? SJU(of Penna.) ? Nova at Wells Fargo but at Pavilion?

This is great news. Looking forward to have a few next time I’m there. Only draw back I can think of is a longer line of people walking behind the basket from the alumni side to go to the bathroom.

I’m very curious how they plan to prohibit it from the student section. But I look forward to double fisting across the way while I watch them try!

The fact that none of you geezers has made a joke yet along the lines of “Good because usually our games make me NEED a drink” is disappointing.

In all seriousness, they’re doing things. The pre-game tent, beer in the arena, playing that Bucknell game at the Palestra- these are things that 5 years ago would’ve been things we were yelling about as hypotheticals that we should be doing.

The pre game beer tent has been a terrific addition to the game day experience. It was packed before the Dayton game. Hope tomorrow brings another good crowd.

I can't disclose how we got it into Gola and how we didn't get caught but I can say it was kicked before the start of 2nd half.

Growing up in Philly, they were simply referred to as a bubble. Had them alot in high school. Much easier to hide/carry into the playground than a keg. And with a bubble, you didnt have to return to the beer distributor to return it like a keg.

They should have red and white wine options for those of us who don't want to be running to the restroom during game action. How about a stand for Christian Brothers' brandy too?

Just wanted to congratulate the school on both the beer tent and instituting beer sales in the Gola arena. The tent was packed yesterday and has been busy at every game I've attended this year. Really nice pregame atmosphere and appears to be successful economically. Beer sales in the arena also seem to be off to a good start. I realize it's baby steps but it really has improved the game day atmosphere. The beer tasted particularly good watching us beat the Hawks. Go 'splorers
