Thursday night will be first time in 30 years that a La Salle team on a 5+ game win streak hosts a ranked opponent. The last time was the epic Loyola-Marymount game at a packed Civic Center in January 1990.
Before that it hadn’t happened since the 1968-69 team hosted Duquesne (and Villanova earlier that year, tho that was a neutral game, I suppose).
Hope we can get a lively crowd and give Dayton a go. 5-game streak hasn’t exactly been against the toughest schedule, but wins are wins at our stage of development. Later start gives people plenty of time to get down to game, but hopefully late ending on a week night won’t keep folks away.

In the 05-06 season undefeated (7-0) La Salle traveled to undefeated and 3rd ranked Villanova and got blown out. I think that was Steve Smith's senior year and one of G's better seasons. At the time my daughter was dating a Villanova grad. When I mentioned to him that I was going to the game I found that he was unaware of anything related to college sports. Thank God my daughter dumped him and married a wrestling and baseball coach.

Yeah that nova game was last time we played a ranked team when on a 5+ game win streak regardless of venue. That one didn’t go too well

if i remember correctly, they had played a 4 ot game against central connecticut and an ot game against fiu earlier that week. they were exhausted and ran out of gas.
not saying this team will beat dayton but they should be well rested for thursday night's game. hopefully we'll have a full roster and kenney and stone will be able to go.

Yes, that was "G's" excuse "too much time on their feet" lol. he did come up with some good ones. la salle had a nice season except for the awful loss in the a10 tourney, but anyone who thought they would go into the ski lodge and stay within 20 of #3 nova, even well-rested, was kidding themselves.

We were "receiving (a) vote" in the polls and we led that game 7-0 before Jay called timeout and cats outscored us the rest of the way by double to one margins. I was one of the any bodies that kidded himself. Please change thread title to third time in 30 years...
