I don’t care who we play, if we win shooting 2-19 from three, that’s a big accomplishment because we aren’t gonna shoot that way often. Missing Saul definitely hurts, hopefully it isn’t long, but that was a good hard fought win. I’ll confess this now, I didn’t think Ed would be as good as he has been. He will have some tough tests with brijovic from Davidson and Hassan French at SLU among others, but he is playing HARD and being productive. Far exceeding my expectations. Ray isn’t the best at any one thing on the court, but man does he play hard, superb glue guy. Overall, can’t be mad with a win.

Big Ed with 18 and 15. Christian Ray with 13 off the bench. On to the next one. Deas had 13, and was the only one to hit 3's and continued his streak of drawing a charge in a game. I'm sure you were planning to post that after your critique of him last week, and I just happened to beat you to it. He didn’t have a great game but ok.

All of these games we would have blown in previous years. The coaching clearly is the difference. These kids want to play for Coach ash, and it shows in their comradery and effort. Believe!

He also shot 4-12 from the field, so let’s not make this game into something it wasn’t. I don’t know what my overall expectations were for him, but my gut is telling me this wasn’t exactly it. And stop being weird when someone talks about individual performances. Because you’re making it weird.

Deas had the best +/- on the team yesterday at +16, and did some of the little things that don't show up in the box score, like stepping up on defense and shooters some decent looks and taking away shot clock time. Unless you were at the game or watching, you wouldn't notice that, but it goes beyond the box score. Yeah, he was 4-12, but the 3 other starting guards were a combined 2-16 (and 0-10 from 3). He also functioned as the de facto leader on the court yesterday with Saul out. With the beating he has taken from the "experts" on here...even after his career game, it's worth publicly giving him his due. If that's "weird" to you, so be it.

Hey you have to give it to GlitterBro he's making sense about Deas...Ash wanted to use him for offense only off the bench in the beginning of the season and since Shaggy been inserted into the starting lineup this team is 7-1...yesterday the same taking a charge and surprise no injuries doing that every game and what we don't factor in how important Shaggy is against the press...his poise and pump fake pass is great...They really need Deas in A10 games

We need good Shaggy to show up in the A10 and not bad Shaggy. Consistency has not been his thing before this little run of games.
Here’s hoping he has turned the corner.

We need a list of every talented La Salle recruit that has faced this same HE NEEDS TO PLAY MORE -> HE'S PLAYING TOO MUCH pattern. There have to be two on every roster. Deas plays a really tough, really critical role on this roster. His own efficiency is inherently going to be lowered or someone else's would be without him.

If Shaggy doesn't play the way Ash needs him to play, Shaggy is riding the bench. During the post game presser on Saturday, Ed mentioned the lack of selfish play this year. Unselfish play has alot to do with winning games. Hope it continues.

There are possessions where a shot has to be taken and matchups that have to be absorbed. Unless you’re a roster with multiple legit stars, someone has to eat those. Deas, in my opinion, does a really solid job balancing this.

Deas, in my opinion, does a really solid job balancing this. Really interesting way of putting it, and I think that is very true. You won’t get an easy open shot every possession. Deas does do a good job of taking charge at those times, for better or worse, and he is that “go to” guy when you need someone to create. I think my only qualm is when that shot comes with 12+ seconds left on the shot clock. But again, you take the good with the bad. No one will be perfect.
