Croswell is back
Deas and Beatty hit the first two threes to go up 6-4 early.

A 7-0 run brings it up to 13-4 good guys. Kale has been saying "Pow" a lot in the early going.

Wagner dude gets a T for trying to pull Stone down after the original foul was called. Stone makes 3 of the 4 FTs. We're up 15-4

26-10 advantage. Very nice rotation of the subs. Crowd looks sparse despite the $10 pop-up holiday sale, which covers all games until the students are back on the goexplorers.com ad.

Love our defensive intensity. a few less bad passes, and better foul shooting and it feels like we could be up by 30.

32-16 Explorers at the under 4 TO. I know we have a comfortable lead, but too many 3s being jacked too early in the shot clock. GO TO THE F$*&*##ING hole. Wagner has had 10 team fouls for over 7 minutes of game action. Get to the line and get some easy points.

55-36 at the under 12 timeout. Been keeping the lead in the upper teens, but still sloppy play going on.

Weird game to be at and a tale of two halves in many ways - actually lost the second half on points. We played sloppy with too many turnovers against Wagner, particularly in the press which we seemed to struggle to consistently figure out. If I'm an opposing coach looking at game film, I press us the whole game. There just felt like no flow at times there tonight and had stretches of lots of sloppy play...playing down to Wagner I think, but we didn't look as crisp as Saturday.
Great game from Spencer on both ends of the floor, Shaggy hitting some key shots and taking charges, and Croswell in limited minutes making a difference.

In a way, I think Ash treated this game as an exhibition game. He knew the outcome 5 minutes into the game and decided to try some different combinations, and to give guys like Kimbrough and Stone some extended minutes, and give Croswell some rest. When Ed saw some minutes, and spelled Jared, it became obvious that Ed is more talented on the court. I thought the two were pretty even last year, but this year you can see more growth and development in Ed than Jared. Stone got beat a few time on the defensive end. His shot was way off as well tonight. I'm not overly concerned about the 2nd half. Happens to every team with big early leads. Its a W, and just need to keep focused and beat FDU, then Bucknell, and head into the A10 at 9-3. Focus is the key, as the crowds are sparse, and it can be easy to try to sleepwalk through some of these games.

Some games like tonight I am willing to tempt fate. After being at the NCAA 2nd round game against Clemson in 1990 my freshman year, and having a 16 point halftime lead but losing by 4, I've learned never to take any La Salle lead for granted... ever.

Davidson in A-10 tournament game and Seton Hall in NCAA game come to mind as well. We've blown leads against lesser opponents as well through the years. Iona game this year, we were up 20 at the half. Had to go into OT to win. Has to be one or two games EVERY year, for the past 20 that we all believed the game was "in the bag", only to see the L at the end of the game.

Takeaways from the game: Loved that Spencer asserted himself more and that the rest of the team was looking for him/running plays for him. Wish he would take the extra half second to set his feet on many open shots because he is very good when he does. Kimbrough played much better with some confidence although he caused at least 2 TOs by not being ready for some passes. Once Wagner fell behind big it looked like they wanted to get physical and intimidate. Played a lot of "hack-A-team" (probably not a bad strategy given the FT shooting). They drew some blood but our guys stood up to it. Really impressed with Ray's toughness. I love the 4 freshmen and 2 sophs but you can see how Phiri, Deas, Beatty and Spencer play more under control (yes, even Deas who in the past had a tendency to keep both teams in the game). The exception may be Croswell who has really developed from the beginning of his 1st year. Looking forward to A10 play.
