I guess the whole Catholic/private school thing isn't going to hold up with the new Big East.... however, where it hits close to home is if we lose VCU to the AAC.

Not sure if they would go.

That VCU move would be like a big fish in a small pond to a small/medium fish in a big pond move. And it probably limits their NCAA tourney chances.
I’d be ok with VCU leaving. We could chase a Loyola Chicago to fill that hole. Them playing with SLU, Dayton, and the remaining Catholic schools makes more sense than their current league IMHO.

Put me in the camp that is also ok if VCU goes. This UCONN move helps Temple tremendously.

That's exactly my thinking with VCU moving to the AAC. They would be a medium fish and it would make it harder for them to get to the tourney. I'd prefer they stay as opposed to picking up Loyola Chicago.

I think it also hurts the conference because arguably their biggest name is leaving the conference. I also bet Dayton is mega ticked off that they weren't invited into the Big East...agan.

Temple is the lone school in the conference in the northeast now.
EDIT: and the more I look at it, the conference looks stupid for Temple now.

Looking at those teams again, it's not a sexy looking conference at all. I'm not saying the A10 is either, but I still think CU would be better served by remaining. I'm sure we'll know in the next month or so.

That doesn't really inspire conference rivalries. It's a weird geography.

Interesting timing. Met with a Temple alum who was very active in the Booster club. When I told him of this rumor on Friday he was surprised. Said this was the first time he heard of it. Said if UCONN left that Army would most likely be a candidate for football only. Football is King. $$$. Army has a national reputation and better football draw especially replacing UCONN.

I’m an Army football season ticket holder, and I believe there is not much appetite to join a conference right now. Especially not the same one as Navy, which would really throw the scheduling of the Army-Navy game into disarray.
Army already gets all its home games on CBS Sports Network, coupled with the Navy game being on CBS. They seem content with playing a softer schedule right now. The only upside to a Conference for them right now would be the security of a bowl tie-in every year, but the last couple years they’ve found their way into a bowl, even without a tie in at season’s beginning.
