Rocking ExplorerTown to the core by suggesting Chris Mullin as our new AD. I want to rule him out but...

rocking it to the core would be suggesting a guy we all know and love who wears a birdhouse on his head..especially since this administration had a history of hiring former athletic directors for the same spot

Fran Dunphy wanted both the basketball + AD jobs before they hired G( Coach)- I guess he’s too old to be considered

I, for one, will be greatly surprised if La Salle does NOT appoint it's first-ever female AD this time around. Methinks the proverbial " handwriting is on the wall " :
Penn State AD -- Sandy Barbour Manhattan AD --- Marianne Reilly
Pitt AD --------Heather Lyke Hartford AD ---- Mary Ellen Gillespie
St. Joe's AD - Jill Bodensteiner Wm & Mary AD --- Samantha Huge
St. Francis AD - Susan Robinson Frucht Monmouth AD ---- Dr. Marilyn McNeill
Delaware AD ---- Chrissie Ruwak UVA AD --------- Carla Williams
Loyola (MD)AD -- Donna Woodruff Miami AD ------- Jennifer Strawley
NC State AD ---- Debbie Yow UNLV AD -------- Denise Reed-Francois

Why don’t we hire the most qualified and highly talented candidate?

Why don’t we hire the most qualified and highly talented candidate? Who said we aren’t? [ Well the discussion here cites a peer group with Barbour (big yawn) and Bodensteiner (train wreck) so I am hoping ability to succeed counts for something.

..I plan to go to the BB retirement dinner on Wednesday evening...maybe BB will announce his replacement... Early stages... A lot of qualified, interested candidates i heard the same thing and i just don't get it. when bb took the permanent job, he publicly stated he'd be here for 3 more years max, and he kept his word. la salle should have started this process months ago and had the new ad selected and ready to go the day after bb's last day. smh.

No reason to rush. And unless you’re hiring internal, who is going to take a job that starts in months.

No reason to rush. And unless you’re hiring internal, who is going to take a job that starts in months. i didn't say to hire someone months ago. i said the process should have started months ago, you know, like identifying a pool of candidates and feeling them out about their interest so they have a small group of finalists and a new hire can be made so that person can hit the ground running once bb steps away. if there's no hire when bb is done, who will be the interim ad? bb did it last time. is there an internal person who is qualified or would even want that responsibility? they need someone to continue to push the facilities improvement plan and other priorities along.

BB is staying on until the replacement is chosen. This process has been thought out by the Board and President. The 3rd party firm has already eliminated a lot of people and again the job has attracted a lot of qualified people. La Salle is very lucky that we continue to be in one of the premier non-P5 conferences in the country for one of the most popular and widely participated sports in all of college sports (you could make an argument in all of sports). There are a lot of institutions with large bank accounts that would love to be in the A-10..

This is a huge decision. I hope it doesn't get frucht up. Yeah and split personality coach known as the legendary Martelli with Jameer and the mediocre Phil (majority of years) and the awful Grampa Munster (20+ loss seasons) all had to deal with being Bodensteiner'd (fired abruptly without any contact).

I could not make the Bill Bradshaw Retirement Roast but I watched the videos that school provided on Goexplorers.com.
Great night and wonderful testimonials to Bill. Especially good to hear from other AD's ( like U of Michigan and Craig Littlepage from UVA)and Temple Administrators/coaches ( John Baum, Clay Armbrister, Joanne Epps, Sherryta Freeman the current AD at Lafayette, Dawn Staley (now HC at South Carolina) and John Chaney).
They say you can judge a man's character by the friends he keeps.
Congrats to La Salle for pulling this together. Sharing with those that could not make the event.
Congrats Bill on your long career. Good Luck in your retirement. Thanks for all you have done. Stay connected.

I'm not keen on your calling the multi conference champion coach "mediocre" without Jameer. He is still legendary. As for "no contact", you did read the news but only one side of it. He did have an exit meeting with the AD, just like almost every coach does. They asked him what his plan for the next two years was, and he was given that chance to defend himself.

As much as I think Martelli is an arrogant, self promoting blow hard I still have to acknowledge that he's a good coach. And if you think he was only good when he had Jameer then you don't know a damn thing about basketball, Steve.

Wish I had more specifics but I heard that 4 candidates were on campus for interviews last week (that was the final pool, initially there was a larger pool that interviewed at an off camps site and those 4 made the short list) so I would assume they have to be close to decision.
