Our upperclassmen are the biggest reason. we can’t improve. Please explain what player(s) you are referring to? Pookie who had 24 pts 4 assist and 1 turnover ? Deas or Saul who had 2 to 1 assist turnover ratio?? Traci who had 1 turnover ?? Or is it Beatty who had the most critical turnover but is a sophomore? Your broad/vague statements are ridiculous. For any one who actually watched the game, I thought we struggled to get the ball into the paint to a big man. All our ball movement was around the 3pt line, why we took so many shots from there. We need to force the ball down to our bigs. Also I like when they use pookie and croswell on the pick and roll up top, but we are not hitting the roll guy enough. On defense it was a tough matchup with the Gilyard and Golden. Also we were killed by the backdoor layups. N.P.O.A. although I will say that Explorer88 brings up some valid points in his later post about consistency and the overall talent level of our more senior players. I also wanted to add that it wasn't only the backdoor layups that were killing us, but also the drives straight down the middle time and time again. Everyone is always going to get a few backdoor cuts and drives down the middle, but it seems like we consistently get murdered on those two types of play. P.S. The backdoor cuts are a staple of the Princeton offense and of course, Mooney is a product of that system.

Deas needs to dribble less. This is a reoccurring concern, game in and game out. He’s a talented kid, but I think he gets himself in trouble too often by playing with the ball. Also, the child that vomited in front of W3 causing a stir really was great foreshadowing... I disagree. They went on a run after the kid hurled to close to within one at halftime. Glory Days tried to get me to puke by talking about his prostate to encourage a second half run.

On defense it was a tough match up with the Gilyard and Golden. Also we were killed by the backdoor layups. We can count on one hand the number of times we have executed the pick and roll this season. We are not good at it (being kind). Croswell in particular NEVER looks for the return pass. Lots of times we attempt to make the pass but it's into a sea of arms and legs. This MUST be emphasized in the off season. It has to be a big part of our future offense. Stone will bring an additional option to this offense with the Pick and Pop. Something we have never had at La Salle. Also it is no secret around the A10 that once any of our three big guys get the ball that you need to pressure and double them. Mark Schmidt made reference to propensity of our big guys to turn it over. I agree with vital's previous comment about at least giving Richmond a different defensive look by playing some zone. Ashley tried three different guards on Gilyard. Finally in desperation he went to a smaller quicker guard in Moultrie. I give Moultrie a great deal of credit for brushing off the rust and giving us a spark for those 6 minutes. Hopefully his injury is not serious. Finally Ashley referred to Pookie as his "Batman" in the post game press conference. He wished he had "Robin" too. Well this might be unpopular but Deas had a solid all around game yesterday. (He also drew two charges that surprise surprise were not called.) Together Powell and Deas were 12-25/7-15/9-10 8 rebs 8 ast to 3 turnovers and a steal. The rest of the team was 12-34/4-16/7-9. I am disappointed in yesterday's performance since it was a step backwards especially on defense where Richmond shot 68% in the first half and 65% for the second half. It seemed more like November than late February when we should be gelling.

Seems like there have been maybe 4-5 games where we were in it and then mistakes at crunch time took us out of the game, sometimes completely out. I don not think we have what it takes to be a top tier A10 team and have long ago grown not to expect that this year. But what makes us lower tier or likely destined to be lower tier has been in my observation fatal mistakes that our guys take turns doing at crunch time. Execution when the game is on the line is hopefully a work in progress.

Execution when the game is on the line is hopefully a work in progress. It just what happens when you don't have a ton of experience out there plus a brand new coach. The thing is all their problems are pretty fixable. It's just going to take some time. The roster is clearly flawed. We all knew that going into the season and have seen it on display. Team had a bad game. I think this is the first game in awhile where I was legitimately disappointed in how they played. Hopefully they can finish the season strong. I would imagine next season is a much better season overall. Just a few things to really work on this offseason.

We could start a special message board with the medical histories of the 71er's.

My oldest once did a hot dog and blue cotton candy in a car. If anyone can top that, I’m very very sorry.

Jellybean is correct with Stone's ability to spread the floor...A10 coaches are not dumb La Salle is easy to defend..Poolie and Deas stop their dribble penetration and double the bigs every now and then! We dont have Shaq, David Robinson, Moses Malone, Dirk...inexperience young players...A10Championship15 made a great point earlier..Saul was a late starter last year, Deas was a bandaid last year when BJ was hurt,Traci starting after a year sitting, and Ed fresh out of HS into the starting line-up mid season, along with a new Coach and system...you are going to have highs and more lows in a few seasons...Next year the same with Pookie,Deas,Mosley... 2 seniors and a early graduate..then you have question marks with Traci,Cian,Moultrie...basically a new team again...This team is still dangerous in A10 playoffs!!!

Questions that I need clarification.
Was it Beatty who had the ball stripped from behind by Gilyard? Gliyard fell in the back court and raced to strip it.
Who were the two players that in-bounded the ball and had Gilyard sneak around and make the steal? I thought it was Beatty and Phiri.
Thank you

Don't remember who the two were in the on the inbound but they were not paying attention and Giliyard anticipated the inbound and darted in to grab it.

Traci Carter leaving ends his collegiate career. not if he graduates in may or in summer school and la salle releases him. he could go the grad transfer route. played full 2015-16 season at marquette. played first half of 2016-17 season at marquette and transferred mid-term to la salle. so those count as two full years of eligibility. he sat out all of the 2017-18 season at la salle, and is playing a full season here in 2018-19. he's used three years of eligibility in four years. he gets five years to use his four years of eligibility. it's no secret that traci has really struggled, but i know i don't want him to leave. i still think he can help this team both this year and next.
