JB, great news on CR. If he grows an inch, he’d be at Cannon’s height so you could be on to something. ray is 6'6". he's already taller than larry. the verbal commits site does a good job overall but not at updating kids' measurements. not supposedly. they offered back in june. www.verbalcommits.com/players/jordan-longino

I attended the Inter-Ac Triple-header. Fun time. Nice crowd. Can't beat the prices. $5 admission and $5 for a soda, hot dog and pretzel. Spent more at Delassandro's (awesome) for two cheese steaks to bring home. Christian Ray had a super all around game. Paper said he had 28 points. I would guess he had 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 1-2 steals. He handles the ball well with either hand. Has maybe the best hands I've seen in a very long time. Old timers can think of Randy Woods and Dallas Philson hands. Super high Basketball IQ. NEVER called for the ball. I'm not sure he took more than 1-2 shots from beyond the arc. Played an inside/outside game. At one point he was the player with the ball milking the clock. Excellent FT shooter. Okay, in the past i have mentioned my favorite La Salle player was Larry Cannon because of his overall talent and TOUGHNESS. I am not saying Ray is the next Larry Cannon but he does have his toughness. Case in point, he is guarding his man on defense and Penn Charter ran him through a double screen. I didn't see exactly what happened but "stuff" happened. CR obviously did not like it and very quietly walked over to one of the PC players and very quietly told him something like " don't EVER do that again." I think he got his point across. A few plays later, he is standing at mid-court during a free throw attempt when one of the referees quietly came over and stood next to him. I think what the ref said was " get ready for that stuff at the next level." CR just nodded. I gave Christian Ray my highest honor the "Larry Cannon tough SOB Award". ................................................................................... jellybean : can you confirm rumor on the street that this unidentified NBA team rep was observed scouting Christian Ray at the Inter-Ac League Tripleheader yesterday ?

HUDL site has highlights of Haverfords win over Malvern. Ray had a double double, scoring 36 points 15 rebounds in the win. The kid looks good. All around game, inside and outside.

Larry Cannon was beyond tough. I heard that John Claude van damme was Larry's apprentice. Before we told Chuck Norris jokes, we told Larry Cannon stories. There is a story that in Larry's sophomore year, Bernie Williams was driving his Blue Malibu on Roosevelt Blvd with Larry Cannon riding shotgun. Supposedly, a motorcycle guy said something uncivil to Bernie. When they stopped at a traffic light Cannon got out of the car and picked the motorcycle with the biker still on it and threw it on the sidewalk. Now, stories have a way of getting enlarged. My sense is that Larry threw the biker and the bike separately.

Had 27 in win over #9 Link Year (73-68 win for #7 Mt. Zion Prep in National Prep School Invitational). Mt. Zion later defeated St. Thomas More 60-59.
Like this quote ,"...motor, explosion, skillset promise to make him a menace."

I really want Taj Thweatt at Temple, he fits the current mold of the team so well. He's athletic, hardworking, made his name rebounding and playing tough defense but the points are starting to come in bunches this year. Happy he's got 3 city schools and 4 Jersey schools. I think it'll come down to Temple and Rutgers the way the talk has gone up to now, but he's a long way off.
In terms of not chasing 150 talent, I think that'd be a mistake. I think Ash will land some surprising recruit. It's not as if G didn't do it.
Also I saw Donta's name mentioned, I don't think there was a chance he was staying in the city. There was a Del interview with a coach of his or something, and if i remember correctly, they said his mom or parents wanted him out of philly. I'm hoping McKie and Ash (and whoever takes over for Martelli hopefully sooner than later) can reverse that trend.
People are split on Fran recruiting, at least the internet crowd. The proportion of Fran supporters is lower in the stands than online. I don't mind it, but he shouldn't be the lead recruiter on anyone. How can he give an effective pitch to kids he will never coach?

Info is a couple of months old (12/20) but NJ.com had a article on top 2020 players. I listed below the players mentioned with La Salle and in the order of the article.
Raejon Figures 6-2 Bergen Catholic ratings services range have him #136-141. Cinn St. Joe (PA) La Salle
Lance Ware 6-9 Camden ratings have him #46-59 La Salle Maryland Providence Seton Hall
C. J. Wilcher 6-5 St. Benedict's ratings have him #115-143 St. John Minn Fordham La Salle St. Bonnie
Two other 2020's I found some info were Niels Lane 6-5 Perkiomen School (teammate of Chris Arcidiacono) and R.J. Davis 5-11 from Arch. Stepinac White Plains NY rated #197.

Jhamir Brickus from Coatesville beat Lower Merion last night in the District One semi finals. He faced a furious box-in-one by Lower Merion and the Inky article said he did not touch the ball until 2:43 was left in the first quarter. Lower Merion took an early 16-4 lead. Coatesville made some adjustments and cut the deficit to 6 with Brickus scoring four points to end the first half.
Brickus finished with 22 points including 9 points in the fourth quarter.
Article said he has offers from La Salle, Rider and Bryant. Receiving interest from VCU, Temple, SJU (PA), Drexel and Siena.
Coatesville (#2 seed) plays Abington (#1 seed) on Saturday at Temple's Liacouras Center at 6pm.

I've seen Ray play 3X this season. The bad news he isn't 6'6". The good news is he is one of those players who knows how to win. I suspect he will have a great career here. The power 5 and Big East schools are at such an advantage with facilities and cost of attendance stipends that the key to recruiting has been identifying the next level kid and developing him to be an A10 player. Ray fits that mold. If Ash can regularly identify that kid he can build a solid program here. Additionally as G understood you need to recruit some out of reach kids who you may get as transfers. Forgetting any illegal benefits, the big programs have too many advantages for us to compete for top recruits. If Ash can consistently find kids who are a step below the big timers and the facility rebuild happens soon I expect much success. Believe!

Brickus receives an offer from Duquesne after playing Western PA team Butler HS. Plays Chester today in 6A.
OT, Wood advances to 5A semifinals. What I find funny is if they get to the championship game they would play either Mars or Moon.

LSCHS beats Roman today to advance to 6A final four. Play Pennridge.
Coatesville beats Chester. Advances to play 1A Kennedy Catholic from Western PA that is playing UP UP UP to 6A.
If you can't tell I have developed a man crush on 5-10/5-11 Jhamir Brickus from Coatesville. He had 52 today in victory over Chester. I have not seen him but people tell me he has a lot of AI in his game. Check out the boxscore on the tweet.

Unfortunately Coatesville lost to Kennedy Catholic 73-69. No word on stats yet. Heck of a run by this team. Grab your popcorn for next season. They have a lot back. Been a great year for both Boy's Basketball and Football.
La Salle HS is trailing Pennridge at halftime.
PS Brickus finished the game with 20 points. Averaged 36 in 4 State playoff games. Has scored 1877 points in his HS career with another season.
