Makayla Pippin Update : averaged 14.7 ppg and 9.9 rebs-pg in 27 games, while playing only 10.5 minutes per game; 41.8 FG%, 34.4 3PT%
www.vaquerosports.com/sports/wbkb/2018-19/bios/pippin_makayla_eb92
Makayla ( No. 10 below ) was named to the all-ACCAC second team as a freshman.
The Vaqueras played in ( but lost ) their Conference Championship game on March 8, 2019.
Congratulations on a great season Makayla ! Sorry, but there's no way those mpg are correct.
@endlessexploring15, you are right about that. Pippin apparently does lead the team in minutes, and contributes quite a lot for them as a freshman. However, at the level Pippin is playing, the box score operators are not always logging their minutes. Stats are therefore entered into the computer as 1.0 minute for some box scores for the entire line-up, which is incorrect and throws off the formula for MPG. Good luck to her in future endeavors.
As for the rest of this news, I'm glad we got to see a transfer in, which will help offset attrition.

5'-10" soph guard Michelle Nichols ( Auckland, New Zealand ) is transferring to : Purdue - Fort Wayne ;
6'-1" soph forward Jasmine White ( Huntingdon, NY ) has also entered her name on the NCAA Transfer portal.

Seeing / reading the handwriting on the wall ( i.e., 9 guards ), not surprisingly, Lady Explorers sophomore guard Rayshel Brown has now also entered her name on the NCAA transfer portal.
Ms. Brown becomes the 6th recent Jeff Williams recruit from years 2016 - 2018 to elect to transfer elsewhere.

what's that supposed to mean? this is what happens when a new coaching staff comes in, especially when the previous roster only won 6 games. lots of turnover. if you noticed, all of the transfers out went to lower level d-1 schools and a d-2 school. kudos to coach mountain and his staff for getting a full 2019-20 roster and already getting two quality 2020 verbals from jaye haynes of germantown academy and michelle kozicki.

I agree. Guy gets four years to flip the roster over. Just like anyone else. He’s going to recruit a different player than Jeff Williams. It may work and it may not. But you can’t fault him for roster turnover.

As usual, such matters are rarely so simple.
The " rabbit in the hat " here is the assumption that the talent level of the new players being recruited to fill the current WBB vacancies ( 2 graduated seniors + 5 transfers ) is necessarily significantly different or better than that of those whom they are replacing, which, of course, remains to be seen. Perhaps the real problem all along was the caliber of the talent of the former head coach and his chosen staff ?
While, to say the least, I was not a Jeff Williams fan, the five players transferring this year, plus the two last season, were all recruited during or after Jeff Williams 2017 A-10 Coach of the Year season ( 2016-17 ) when the team went 17 - 13 and when, presumably, La Salle was in a position to leverage / maximize it's benefit from same in terms of recruiting. The ability to offer recruits the opportunity to play in the A-10 alone is IMO a significant recruiting advantage. Dalila Eshe, who is the current Asst Coach, Recruiting Coordinator was hired in 2016. " In 2017-18, Eshe engineered one of the best recruiting classes in program history … " : goexplorers.com/news/2018/5/11/dalila-eshe-retained-as-assistant-womens-basketball-coach.aspx. Janay Sanders, for example, was second team All-State in North Carolina her senior year in high school and made All-Conference her junior and senior years.

Breaking News :
WBB Recruiting Coordinator Dalila Eshe has now left La Salle to head up WBB Recruiting at Princeton University.
July 5, 2019 -- ( New Princeton head WBB coach Carla ) Berube Announces Hiring of Battista and Eshe to Coaching Staff
goprincetontigers.com/news/2019/7/5/womens-basketball-berube-announces-hiring-of-battista-and-eshe-to-coaching-staff.aspx?path=wbball
Random thoughts / observations :
-- Congratulations to Dalila Eshe on her new position. No - brainer decision on her part ; clear upgrade job opportunity she couldn't refuse ; superior academic and athletic facilities ( Jadwin, etc. ) to show prospective recruits; getting in on ground floor with new head coach, staff, Program, etc
-- There goes whatever chance, if any, La Salle may have still had of signing espn 4-star anticipated 2020 Central Arizona College JUCO grad Makayla Pippin next Spring. [ " OO " - like situation. ]

New staff is killing it on the recruiting front. I think they have 4 or 5 verbal commitments for 2020. It remains to be seen how impactful this recruiting class will be and whether he took the commitments too early but that is all just speculation. This staff obviously appeals to the recruits. The latest commitments are:
York Thunder @yorkthunder2020 · 20h Morgan Adams(New Oxford HS) verbals to La Salle University! Congrats Morgan!!
Kayla Richardson @krichardson2223 100% COMMITTED to LaSalle University. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. Go Explorers! 💙💛 @coachtinygreen

Here is a story on Morgan Adams who is a recent commitment. Interesting she wasn't getting a D-1 offer yet but Coach Mount brings her into his office and offers her a full ride and tells her he wants her badly in the program. These are the types of decisions that can elevate a program by making the right decision or sinking the program by giving scholarships to kids that can't play at this level. Both coaches need to find overlooked gems to elevate their respective programs and why it was critical for Bill Bradshaw to select these types of coaches. It is the only way for La Salle to survive in the competitive landscape of D-1 basketball. It will be extremely intriguing to watch Morgan in her career at La Salle. Rooting for her and Coach Mount to shock everyone. Morgan Adams

I always thought Jeff Williams tried to find too many players of high skill level. The women’s game is different from the men. Also we didn’t recruit locally enough.

It was very impressive to see ten players contribute to the scoring column, including a 20pt performance in Claire Jacobs' debut (7/9 FGs, 4/5 FT), in a 16 point win on the road at Howard on Tuesday night. These Explorers will be working on reducing the turnovers but shooting-wise, they've already shown vast improvement over last season. Watching the live feed, Howard was putting on a second half press, but La Salle hung tough and pulled way ahead in the 4th qtr.

Makayla Pippin watch ( ctd. ) :
For reasons unknown, 6'-1" Kansas State (#15 nationally - ranked JUCO recruit from Central Arizona ) junior forward Makayla Pippin has seen her PT minutes steadily decline from November thru December as the OOC schedule ( with several postponements ) unfolded, and she has not played at all during the Lady Wildcats' last 13 games. Meanwhile the WBB team's overall record thus far is 7 - 14.
Undisclosed physical injury / medical condition ( e.g., COVID ) ?
Is she being ' red-shirted ' this season ( since everyone who wants one gets a " do over " next year ) ?
